Melusine and the Year of the Snake in 2025

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   Happy March!   As we quickly approach the launch of The Melusine Mysteries (my first ever online class), which opens enrollment on March 14, I thought discussing Melusine was the ideal way to begin the month.   That is why today’s Siren Saturday blog post is about Melusine and the Year of the Snake.   You see, I realized back at the end of January, when we officially entered the Year of the Snake with the Lunar New Year, that it was quite ideal that my plan to launch an Online Class on Melusine during the Year of the Snake.

After all, Melusine is a Faery Queen Goddess of Avalon who famously spends her Saturdays in her Mermaid form.   However, to be more specific, her Mermaid form is very often described as being Serpentine in nature (especially in the oldest written accounts of her legend)!   Melusine does embody the energy of evolution and can aid us in shedding what is no longer serving us as we go through transformation periods.   Her Watery Nature makes her a very fluid Faery Queen energy, ever-shifting between her aspects (of which there are seven that my students will study in The Melusine Mysteries when it launches) as her story unfolds!

Melusine is a beautiful and loving energy, even in the darkest of times.   Yes, she is punished by her mother, Pressine, to have to spend Saturdays in her Serpentine Mermaid form, having to be in a tub of water all day long, but the reason she is punished is that she was trying to avenge a slight against her mother.   Even this act of her and her two sisters imprisoning their father is done with love and a protective instinct towards their mother, but given that Pressine still loved their father, she punished her children!

When she is forced to leave her husband due to his betrayal of the promise to never see her on a Saturday, she gave him a second chance.   She knew that he had spied on her as soon as he did.   Of course, being a Faery Queen, she always had foreknowledge, but given that Raymond did not initially reveal her secret to others, she remained with him.   It was only when he revealed her secret in front of other people and confronted her, calling her a monster, that she finally left!   But even at that point, Melusine was more sad and heartbroken, scorned by the man she loved, but not presenting this scorn as rage, rather presenting her sorrow and pain.   She cried as she left and bid a fond farewell to others living at their Court.

This ability to have empathy and remaining love for her husband even as he betrayed her in the one thing she had asked of him shows just how overwhelmingly loving and nurturing Melusine is!   She can aid us in weathering the storms in our lives.   She can empower us to hold our heads high as we confront trials in our lives.   She can teach us to embrace the fluidity of our natures and to shed the skin of the snake that is holding us back from reaching our new dreams!    All of this shows why Melusine is a great Faery Queen Goddess Guide for Scrying the Mirror of the Soul and Alchemizing Pain into Beauty.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this brief overview of why Melusine is a great guiding Faery Queen Goddess during the Year of the Snake.   Are you interested in studying The Melusine Mysteries?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
