Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. Today’s Tarot Tuesday blog post is about the Mercury energy found in Tarot Archetypes! I do want to note that two of the cards here I also listed as being Lunar cards in my Moon and Tarot post, but I had to include them, as they do also hold Mercurial energy. I have noticed that as I work my way through these posts about Tarot and Planetary energy, there are definitely overlaps in cards holding more than one Planetary energy, which proves the beautiful complexity of Tarot! Now, without further ado, let’s look at Mercurial Tarot cards.
THE MAGICIAN (I)
~The Magician is the Master of Manifestation, as he is the creator of change via magick. This directly relates to the travel energy of Mercury, plus the Magician would tie quite nicely with Hermetic philosophies, which have a name related to Hermes, the Greek counterpart to Mercury, adding an extra punch to the Magician holding Mercurial energy!
THE HIEROPHANT (V)
~The Hierophant is the ultimate Teacher of the deck, passing on wisdom and knowledge. This relates quite well to the quicksilver mind of Mercury energy. This is one of the cards that is also Lunar, with the Moon and Mercury playing well with this card’s knowledge-sharing energy!
THE HERMIT (IX)
~This one may be one of the most obvious ones, even if it is also one of the cards I associated with Lunar energy as well. The Hermit is associated with the sign of Virgo, which is one of the signs ruled by Mercury. I think that the introspective nature of the Hermit relates to the intelligence of Mercury quite nicely. The communicative energy of Mercury is also something that I think the Hermit also possesses in the way that introspection allows you to communicate your feelings more clearly!
KING OF SWORDS
~The King of Swords is the ultimate power of the mind, the King who is forever many steps ahead. He is the embodiment of the power of the mind, which Mercury represents!
QUEEN OF SWORDS
~The Queen of Swords is the Queen who holds the deepest Mercurial energy. She is the power of imaginative thought and inspired plans, which relates to Mercury and the energy of swiftness of the mind!
KNIGHT OF SWORDS
~The Knight of Swords is the calculated and strategic Knight, which relates to the intense power of the mind which is so integral to the Mercury energy.
PAGE OF SWORDS
~The Page of Swords is the often wary Page, alert and always vigilant and observant. This relates to the Mercurial power of the observation!
