The Moon and Tarot Archetypes

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   Today’s post is a Tarot Tuesday look at Lunar energies found in your favorite Tarot cards!

THE MOON (XVIII)

~The Moon card is the most obvious card with Lunar energy, as it literally depicts the Moon herself!   This card holds the energy of both psychic awareness and uncertainty that the light of the Moon holds, which I find brings the Moon card a great amount of balanced energy.

THE HIGH PRIESTESS (II)

~The High Priestess is the ultimate receptive channel of the Divine.   She is the Lunar Divine Feminine, holding space for those who desire a connection to the Divine and holding the knowledge of insights and esoteric wisdom, and she is the Initatrix of others into the Mysteries of the Divine!

THE HIEROPHANT (V)

~The Hierophant is the ultimate teacher of the Tarot, often depicted as being a leader of a religious hierarchy.   However, the nature of teaching and transmuting Divine wisdom is the heart of this card.   The energy of teaching is related to holding space for others, creating a sacred space, and that is incredibly Lunar!

THE HERMIT (IX)

~The Hermit is the ultimate card of introspection, with a deep willingness to leave society and go within the self to learn innate truths.   This energy of delving into the self and analyzing the Shadow is the Lunar energy of the Heroine’s Journey, the inward journey of the self, rather than the outward Quest of the Hero’s Journey!

QUEEN OF CUPS

~The Queen of Cups is both Venusian, as I discussed in my Venusian Tarot cards post, and Lunar.   She is the doubly watery Queen, ruling over the emotions and love as well as over the psychic abilities.   She often is the guiding dream or vision of the Spiritual Seeker, making her especially Lunar!

PAGE OF CUPS

~The Page of Cups is the messenger of good tidings, in this way, this Page can be seen as a messenger of the Divine.   The Page of Cups is also the student of the psychic abilities, desiring to develop a greater amount of perception.   All of this shows that this Page has a lot of Lunar ties!

ACE OF CUPS

~The Ace of Cups is the Cup overflowing!   This energy of overflowing emotions and new beginnings in a time of abundance can easily be seen as being the gift of the Moon.

~I hope you have enjoyed this short post looking at Lunar energies in the Tarot.   What other Tarot cards can you think of as being Lunar?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Note on Image: The image at the top of the post is a beautiful Moon painting by Dinesh Sawant.   I found the painting on https://www.fizdi.com/full-moon-night-01-art_8203_69998-handpainted-art-painting-9in-x-12in/.
