Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. Today’s post is a poetic reflection on the passing of Marianne Faithfull, yet another 60s icon lost to us! As a lover of her music, story, acting, style, and iconic status in 60s pop culture, I knew I had to acknowledge her passing in an artistic manner when I heard about her death this past Thursday.
Ode to Marianne
by Maranda Wabik
Dancing around with the band
Remembered as the girlfriend of Mick
She was such a lovely songbird to take your hand
Her life was full of memories, many would pick
To have the experiences she did
Never one to pretend
She never hid
Writing her truth
Writing about her trauma
Honesty and integrity
And a life full of intense experience
So many stories to recollect
So many memories to protect
So much love to share
So much pain to spare
So much love
To carry her on the wings of a dove
Now released from earthly pain
Ready to rest in peace
She will not be forgotten
For her art, for her life, for her story
All will be with us forevermore!
~I hope you have enjoyed this Ode to a great 60s icon. Are you a fan of her music? Did you enjoy her acting? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
