Embracing the Innocence of the Maiden

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   Today’s post is about embracing the true Innocence of the Maiden energy.   To be clear, this is not Innocence in being sexually pure or Innocence in the naive sense, but rather a Purity of the Heart, a Purity of Intent!   The Maiden asks you to embrace your own childlike wonder, nurture your inner child, and center yourself in the heart.

The energy of the Maiden is also oftentimes the energy of heart-centered soul intentions.   Therefore following your heart is an ideal way to honor the Maiden energy within.   The soft and sweet melody of the soul is singing through in truth when you let the innocence and pure intent of the Maiden guide the way!

I think it is also the ideal time to discuss this topic right now, as we are slowly working our way towards Imbolc.   Imbolc and Spring Equinox are both holidays that possess Maiden energy, to be honest!   I think that is why this topic has been germinating in my mind lately.   By flowing more deeply with the cycle of the seasons, or matching our inner natures with Mother Nature, we can learn to truly embrace the Maiden as the ending of Winter and burgeoning of Spring arrive in our lives!

How do you embrace the Maiden?   I like to embrace my inner Maiden energy by doing work on my inner Child, and even inner Adolescent, as the Maiden is the Feminine Archetype of Youthful Innocence, but she is not necessarily a child.   The Maiden can also be the young woman in the first blooms of youth learning to navigate the world around her.   Reflecting on my own teenage years and my early twenties, allows me to see what aspects of the Maiden need tending to at any given time!    As someone with a good dose of Maiden energy naturally, what with Persephone being my secondary Goddess Archetype (Aphrodite is my primary) in Jean Shinoda Bolen’s Goddesses in Everywoman Jungian Archetype system, I definitely have learned the benefits of being in touch with this youthful energy.   I have also learned that to be in touch with my inner Child and inner Maiden also means that I know the pitfalls of delving into this energy without nuance.   To tap into the inner Maiden and embrace her lovely and soft energy does not mean to divorce yourself from all responsibility in the outcome of situations, we must embrace the youthful energy while still seeing our own inherent culpability in our actions.

What are some simple ways to embrace the Maiden?   I love to, as mentioned above, reflect on my younger self.   I also love to watch films and television shows and read books that were beloved to me in my younger years to tap into nostalgia and help me to heal any undealt with trauma I may be carrying in my attachment to Maiden energy.   In fact, doing Shadow work relating to Maiden energy and reflecting on where you may have trauma around the Maiden Archetype is a great way to prevent some of those pitfalls that I discussed above!

I hope you have enjoyed this short examination of embracing the softness and innocence of the Maiden energy.   How do you relate to the Maiden?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Note on Image: The image at the top of the post is a gorgeous Brian Froud painting that I feel embodies the Maiden energy well!   I found the artwork on https://humoringthegoddess.com/2021/02/24/sunday-evening-art-gallery-midweek-brian-froud/.
