The Star Archetype in Tarot

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   Today’s blog post is about the Tarot Archetype of the Star card and how we can use this archetype to embrace soft feminine energy!   I thought that this would be an ideal follow-up to the recent posts I have been writing over the last couple of weeks about Tarot Archetypes.

What is the Star Archetype?   The Star Archetype is one of unending Hope, the light that shines and leads the way.   The Star is the soft, steady light in the sky at night, the light we wish to follow, the Star that symbolizes our Dreams.   After all, how often have we been told to ‘Reach for the Stars?’   And why do we call people who gain recognition and fame ‘Star’ or state that an actress or actor is ‘starring in’ something?   We say this because the Star is the symbol of our Hopes, Dreams, and Desires.   The Star also becomes the culmination and attainment of those Hopes, Dreams, and Desires!

Now, what about how the Star card relates to the Divine Feminine Energy?   The Star card in Tarot is generally drawn to feature a woman pouring water into a stream with a large Star (or many stars) in the background of the image.   So, it is clear by the way the card is depicted that the Star is very much interpreted as a Feminine Tarot Archetype.   So, it is the Star, the Divine Feminine Archetype of Soft and Steady Light, who can become an aide to guide us to follow our Dreams!   This is also how the Star differs from the Moon (the Waxing and Waning Light showing the balance between Light and Shadow) and the Sun (the Steady and Warm Light with much more fiery force than the gentle Star).

The Star is constant in her Soft and Gentle Light.   She is forever there, providing a gentle energy to inspire all who look upon her.    In this way, the Star is not just the Light but the Muse to spark Inspiration (or even the Divine Inspiration of Awen)!   We can embrace the Softer Feminine Energy of the Star card in Tarot by taking time to take care of ourselves.   We can soothe ourselves by becoming receptive to the blessings around us!   After all, the Star is the Hope for the blessings to come once we have taken action.   Remember that, in order to truly manifest anything, to alchemize change, we first must act (the masculine force), but then we also must take a step back and be ready to receive (the feminine force).   I find that this soft, receptive aspect of the process of transformation is greatly aligned with the Star Archetype!   That is why she often calls us to not fret and have Hope, for we have done the work, now it is time to wait and reap the rewards.   And as we wait, we should take the time to soothe ourselves and practice self-care and self-love.   In many ways, I see the Star as truly a Divine Feminine Archetype of Faery Magick and Elven Enchantment, which means so much to me!

I felt so inspired to write about the beautiful energy of the Star card because she has been appearing to me often of late.   This is a sweet reminder that I am on my right path and that I should work to embrace some more of her energy for 2025!   I want to finish by stating that the appearance of the Star so often in my life of late also serves as a reminder that when embracing the energy of the Star Archetype, I am becoming a beacon of Light in the Darkness for others.   I hope you have enjoyed reading my ruminations on the Star Archetype.   What is your relationship with the Star Archetype in Tarot?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
