Krampusnacht: A Poem

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   In honor of today being Krampusnacht, Krampus Night, and the Celebration of Krampus, I wanted to share a poem I have composed about everyone’s favorite Yuletide Demon!

Krampusnacht

by Maranda Wabik

The evening is still, silent, and full of fear.

The silence sliced with the sound of chains drawing near.

The worry of the children who’ve been naughty.

Can be smelled by the Yule Demon, who’s feeling haughty.

Sneaking through the house,

And much louder than a mouse,

Krampus is ready to judge,

The wee ones right where they lodge.

For on the fifth of December,

Is a time to remember,

KRAMPUSNACHT

Is in full swing,

Celebrated by adults with wicked glee,

All the while, little children are desirous to flee.

Krampus wants to know…

Have you been nice, or have you been naughty?

~Happy Krampusnacht!  I hope you have enjoyed this poem.   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Note on Image: The image at the top of the post is a classic Krampus artwork.   I found the picture on https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/in-germany-santas-sidekick-is-a-cloven-hooved-child-whipping-demon-180948178/.
