Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings!   Today’s post is all about embracing the Darker Siren energy for Samhain.   We can embrace the Dark Feminine Energy of Sirens, Vampires, and even Succubi to enhance the power of the Feminine within each of us!   I will go over each of these types of Dark Feminine energies in short sections below.

VAMPIRE

~The Vampire is a monstrous being, known as a creature of the night, who can be either male or female.   In the case of female Vampires, there is the enhancement of the seductive qualities of vampirism.   The female Vampire has the masculine energy of penetrating her fangs into the neck of her victim.   The act of a Vampire biting her victim is a sexual act, with penetration and the exchange of bodily fluids.   However, that means the female Vampire is embracing an aspect of the masculine, as she is the one doing the penetrating!   This balance of masculine and feminine coming into alignment is part of what makes female Vampires associated with the monstrous feminine.   This is because the female Vampires are taking on classically masculine traits, which plays on the fears of women becoming more active.   We can embrace this energy by remembering that the masculine and the feminine exist within all of us.   We need to balance the actions we take, the masculine, with our receptive energy, the feminine.   The female Vampire reminds us of this nicely! 

SUCCUBUS

~A more extreme version of the Dark Feminine is the Succubus, a female demon who feeds on men, often through sex.   This is another female creature of the night who would be seen as the monstrous feminine.  This is because the Succubus is feeding on men and preying on the fears and anxieties of society!   For this reason, she is often more feared than her male counterpart, the Incubus.   Succubus Energy can teach us to be careful with how we use our Dark Feminine Energy.   We need not hate men or eat men like the Succubus in order to feel the empowerment of the Dark Feminine.    I wanted to mention the Succubus as a reminder that Dark Feminine does not mean hating or abusing men or any person, it is just about feeling at home and empowered in our own bodies.   We need never harm others to make ourselves feel more powerful, as this shows us as weak, not powerful!   To me, Succubus Energy shows us what not to do when delving into Dark Feminine Energy.

SIREN

~Finally, and most powerfully, I want to discuss the Siren as the archetype of Dark Feminine Energy.   She is the darker aspect of the Mermaid archetype.   The one who can lure men to their doom, for that is the power of her sexuality and the Siren Song!    However, she is not necessarily evil, for she is the embodiment of the Water and Earth elements, as she is both nourishing (or nurturing) and dangerous (as the Waters and Earth can be).   After all, the waves can pull us under and drown us, and the Earth can have quakes and landslides to harm us!   When we embrace our inner Siren, we are showing that we can balance the energy of being a protective nurturer with becoming slightly dangerous.   For to be dangerous is to be able to protect ourselves from being taken advantage of.   You see, that is the true power of the Siren and the true power of the Dark Feminine, we empower ourselves never to be harmed.   We are preventing ourselves from having people take advantage of us!   I love to view the Dark Feminine in this way, at its root, it is about protection, not aggression.    The Dark Feminine is powerful because we can learn to use the dangerous Shadow aspects of ourselves as a protective armor.    At least, that is how I work with the Dark Feminine, as I never want to harm others, I just want to protect myself from being taken advantage of!
