Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. Today’s Mermaid Monday post is all about Melusine, the Faery Queen Mermaid Goddess of Avalon, and how she relates to Kundalini awakenings! For those readers who do not watch my YouTube videos, you would not have seen my YouTube community poll where I announced that the Online Class I have been developing is on Melusine. I also have a poll on my Patreon, which was posted right before the YouTube community poll this past Saturday!
Now, that class will not launch for several months, as I have just begun preparing it over the last week and a half. That being said, I did want to do some more writing about my beloved Melusine. I wrote about Melusine last week as I was trying to give some hints about the theme of my class before I was ready to announce it this past Saturday.
In this post, I will be exploring the link between Melusine and the nature of Kundalini energy and Kundalini awakenings. So, first, I should define what a Kundalini awakening is. According to yogapedia.com, “Kundalini awakening describes the process of activating the dormant primal life force energy that rests at the base of the spine. Kundalini is a Sanskrit word that is often translated as “coiled one,” referring to the analogy of the energy as a coiled serpent waiting to be awakened. The root of the word, kunda, means “pot,” “pitcher” or “basin,” representing a receptacle holding the energy. When awakened, kundalini rises up through the chakras, following the spinal column from the root chakra through to the crown chakra, opening and activating each.”
Now that we have defined what a Kundalini awakening is, you may wonder how this unique spiritual experience is related to Melusine. Melusine is a Faery Queen who spends every Saturday in Mermaid form, and that Mermaid energy is also related to serpents! In fact, in some versions of Melusine’s legend, she is even described as having the tail of a serpent rather than a traditional Mermaid tail. Kundalini is also described as a serpent moving up through the chakras from the base of the spine until it meets the crown! I find that Kundalini yoga is one of the simplest ways to connect to Melusine. The intense energy of Kundalini awakening triggers the Divine Feminine awareness and the connection to Divine Feminine Sexuality. I see this as very much a Siren Archetype becoming activated as well. Melusine has all of these energies: the Divine Feminine Sexuality, the Siren Archetype, and the deep connection to awareness of the Feminine! It makes so much sense that a watery feminine Mermaid Goddess with a serpent connection would have links to this energy. I myself have had multiple Kundalini awakenings, as I have practiced Kundalini yoga for many years. That being said, I had one Kundalini awakening that was the most profound one of my entire life, and I firmly believe that Melusine had a hand in that particular experience. It was an experience full of visions that were so real they have since been seared into my brain, and that awakening truly felt like it was a message from the Divine!
