Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is about my ranking of the Wheel of the Year holidays. I have seen this idea going around on social media lately, and I wanted to do my own version of it here, as I have a very specific ranking of these holidays. To be clear, I adore each holiday in its own turn, but I have two top favorites that I am always adore all year round, not just when it is that time of year! Without further ado, let’s look at the Wheel of the Year.
Number 8: YULE
~So, this ranking may come as a surprise to many of you. I know that many people love the Winter holidays the best, but of the Wheel of the Year celebrations, this one is my least favorite. Again, to be clear, I still love the Yuletide season when it comes about, but it is not the season I look forward to as greatly as many people do or a season I wish I could live in all the time!
Number 7: MIDSUMMER
~Now we go to the other most extreme season for my seventh-place ranking. I love Midsummer for all of the Faery goodness of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, but once again I would not want to live all the time in this season, but I do like it slightly more than Yule, even if they are very closely ranked for me!
Number 6: IMBOLC
~My sixth place had to go to Imbolc. I love this holiday for its burgeoning of the oncoming Spring, as I adore the warming up of the ending of Winter!
Number 5: LUGHNASADH
~My fifth place had to go to Lughnasadh. I love this holiday for its burgeoning of the oncoming Autumn, as I adore the finally cooling down of the weather with the ending of Summer!
Number 4: VERNAL EQUINOX
~My fourth place is the Vernal Equinox. I love this holiday as the beginning of Spring and the start of the other Season of the Witch, which lasts from the Vernal Equinox to Beltane!
Number 3: AUTUMNAL EQUINOX
~My third place is the Autumnal Equinox. I love this holiday as the beginning of Autumn and the start of the main Season of the Witch, which lasts from the Autumnal Equinox to Samhain!
Number 2: BELTANE
~My second place could be nothing other than Beltane! It is truly a very close second favorite holiday of the entire year for me. I love the height of Spring, the beautiful flowers, and the sensuality and fertility of the holiday!
Number 1: SAMHAIN
~Of course my favorite holiday is Samhain, which I doubt came as a surprise to anyone! I absolutely adore the height of Autumn and the time of year when the veil is the thinnest, although it is also incredibly thin for my second favorite holiday of Beltane. It is the perfect time to honor the ancestors, communicate with the dead, and watch horror films!
~I hope you have enjoyed this ranking. What is your ranking of the holidays? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
