“The Faeries’ Oracle” Deck Review

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.   Today’s post is a review of The Faeries’ Oracle by Brian Froud, with text by Jessica Macbeth.   This is a deck I have wanted for many years, as I have been a lifelong fan of the Faery art of Brian Froud and his wife Wendy.   Their Faery artworks truly feel like entering the true Faery Realms, with little to none of the overly cutesy flower fairy energy popularized in the Victorian period.    Not to mention, Brian Froud did the character design for all of the Fae creatures in The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, which makes his art even more well-known!

The story of how I came to purchase this deck is wholly unique for me compared to how I usually acquire decks.   You see, as I am building my business and getting ready to launch I am still working my day job at a thrift store.    One day last week, this deck was donated, and I was lucky enough to purchase it when I got off of work.    However, what makes this truly unique is that this is the first time I ever purchased a used Tarot or Oracle deck.    I do tend to have many reservations about purchasing a used deck, as decks tend to be imbued with the energy of the reader.   With that being said, I counted all of the cards to make sure that they were all there and in good condition.   They were all there and in basically new condition!    Beyond that, there was no negative energy or much of any detectable energy radiating from the cards.    That is what made it comfortable for me to purchase cards that had been used before.    When I got home, I thoroughly cleansed them, with incense, mugwort smoke, and days spent next to selenite!    Finally, I shuffled them often for several days to imprint my own psychic energies into them.

The cards themselves are really gorgeous and highly evocative.   Of course, I would not have expected less from the work of Brian Froud!   However, I was incredibly impressed by them, and the guidebook is actually hardcover, which is very unique in the world of Tarot and Oracle cards.   I love just feeling into the energy of these cards and they read beautifully!   I am also excited to use these cards to meditate with, as they are so gorgeously illustrated and just looking at them feels like entering Faeryland.    I would definitely recommend these gorgeously illustrated cards to anyone who works closely with the Fae, or even just anyone who is a fan of Faery artwork in general!

I hope you have enjoyed this short review of The Faeries’ Oracle.    Do you enjoy this deck?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
