Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. This week’s Femme Fatale Friday post is about those things held Sacred to the Goddess Guinevere. Guinevere is a Faery Queen Goddess whose presence I have felt my entire life, much like Morgan le Fay (who is my Matron Goddess). Over the last year, I have been going back and forth over whether or not I thought of Guinevere as an aspect of Blodeuwedd, or as her own individual Goddess, but over the last few months, she has been appearing to me very strongly in her own very unique energy!
This is why I have begun offering Channeled Tarot Readings with Guinevere in addition to Morgana, Blodeuwedd, and Rhiannon. It is a very Faery and liminal concept to have Goddesses whose energies overlap and to wonder if they are truly one and the same, which is one of the very intriguing and ever-evolving things about being on an Avalonian Faery Path! I also want to preface the exploration of Guinevere’s Sacred Objects by stating that many of these associations are things that I have discovered through my own personal experience with Guinevere, so anything that I do not specifically note as being found in folklore and legend is from my own personal experiences. Now that I have gone over why I chose to write this post in honor of my beloved Guinevere at this time, let’s look at her Sacred Objects!
GUINEVERE’S SACRED DAY: BELTANE
~I begin my list of that which is Sacred to Guinevere with her Sacred Day. Beltane has been associated with Guinevere from time immemorial and is attested to in countless renditions of the legends. Even during the Medieval Christian period, when Guinevere was supposed to be seen as an ideal Christian Queen, she was still routinely depicted as Going-A-Maying on May Day! One of my personal favorite depictions of Guinevere on Beltane comes from the Lerner and Lowe musical Camelot. There is a whole song and dance number about her May Day escapades! Having just rewatched the film version, I was enchanted as always to watch Vanessa Redgrave sing about the Lusty Month of May.
GUINEVERE’S SACRED COLORS: WHITE, GREEN, GOLD, & PURPLE
~Guinevere’s Sacred Colors are much what would be expected of many a Faery Queen whose power lay in being a Sovereignty Goddess who is a representative of the Land Made Manifest in Physical Form. Green is the color of the Wild Woodland, and often one she is depicted wearing. Gold is associated with riches, the crown, and jewelry, plus as she is married to Arthur, a Solar aligned King, it makes sense she would connect with Gold (although much of this association is my own). Purple is the color of Royalty and has long been associated with Divinity, but it is again a color I find she adores and holds Sacred without much proof. Finally, White is the most obvious Color Sacred to Guinevere, as her name literally translates to ‘White Fay’ or ‘White Phantom’ in its original Welsh form, plus White is a very Faery color indeed!
GUINEVERE’S SACRED ANIMALS: WHITE CROWS, WHITE RAVENS, WHITE HORSES, WHITE COWS
~White Animals in general signal the presence of a Faery Queen and the Faery Realms. Guinevere is definitely depicted with White Horses and White Cows, showing her Sovereignty and Fertility associations beautifully. I also added White Crows and White Ravens because these birds feel like Guinevere to me whenever I see them depicted! They are the pale counterpart to their black-winged siblings, much like Guinevere is in relation to Morgan le Fay!
GUINEVERE’S SACRED PLANTS: APPLES (ESPECIALLY APPLE BLOSSOMS), HAWTHORN (ESPECIALLY HAWTHORN FLOWERS), & WHITE ROSES
~As for Sacred Plants, Guinevere is very often depicted in forests full of trees in bloom during Beltane. That leads to the obvious link with Apples and Hawthorns being Sacred to her, both Faery Trees, both having connections to Sexuality and Fertility, this makes perfect sense. White Roses have been long attested to as being an Avalonian Flower, and Guinevere herself has strong ties to Avalon, but the connection to Guinevere and the White Rose is something I came to intuitively, but I know I am not the only one to see the connection!
GUINEVERE’S SCARED MAGICKAL TOTEM: FLOWER CROWNS
~As for her Magickal Totem (an item that signifies her Magickal ability), I chose to state Flower Crowns are the way in which she works her own special Faery Magick. After all, I do not see her as stirring a cauldron, or waving a wand, or wielding a sword. I see Guinevere crafting and wearing the Sacred Flowers in a Crown that denotes her status as Faery Queen and Queen of Camelot, a Crown that blesses herself, her devotees, and the Land with Fertility and Enchantment! Plus there are countless depictions of Guinevere wearing Flower Crowns to back this up!
GUINEVERE’S SACRED SYMBOLS: CROWN & FAERY STAR
~When it came to Sacred Symbols, the Crown shape was obvious, as it is well attested to in early Arthurian lore. There are tales where Guinevere has a dark twin, also named Guinevere, and the true Guinevere is distinguished by her having a Crown-shaped birthmark. The seven-pointed Faery Star is the symbol I most link to Guinevere personally, just like the Chalice Well symbol and Vesica Pisces in general feel like Morgana, the Faery Star feels like Guinevere to me!
GUINEVERE’S SACRED INTENTIONS: HEART-CENTERED SOUL INTENTIONS
~Finally, I had to finish this post by explaining a bit about what Guinevere’s energy feels like and what she inspires me to do. She is such a romantic, loving, and supportive presence, and this inspires me to have Heart-Centered Soul Intentions! She holds everything linked to the Heart Sacred, love, sexuality, fertility, Rosaceae family plants, and the planet Venus. After all, she is a major Faery Queen Goddess who embodies the Celtic Venus Energy!
~I hope you have enjoyed this exploration of what is held Sacred to the Goddess Guinevere. What is your favorite Sacred Object of Guinevere? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Thank you for sharing this informative and intriguing read! I used to feel so disconnected from Guinevere out of all the Arthurian women and Celtic goddesses but as I grow older, I find I connect with her more and more. This post helps with that so much, in the way that it solidifies her symbols and what they mean. 💕 Also my birthday is close to Beltane so I’ve now come to associate my birthday with her energy; with roses and flower crowns and her divine feminine power lol. And this post made me realize how much I love her! 🥰 Also I would absolutely LOVE to do a channeled tarot reading with you sometime soon if you’re taking customers! 🌹
I absolutely am taking clients for channeled readings! Just click on the Tarot and Oracle Readings page on my site and you can purchase any reading you would like! I am so pleased that my post helps you to better connect with Guinevere’s energy! She really is a beautiful and inspiring Faery Queen Goddess!
