Heed the Call of the Sea Siren: 5 Tips to Embrace Your Inner Mermaid!

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.   Today’s post is a list of tips to Heed the Call of the Sea Siren with personal beauty, self-love, and Shadow work rituals!   This is self-care with a Water Fae twist for the burgeoning Summer energy that we often look to embrace when we flow with the seasons.

SAND, WATER, SALT: WISDOM TO IMPART

~The Sea Siren, the Mermaid Archetype, and Water Fae in general embrace the energy of Water, obviously, but also have a large amount of Earth energy to balance the watery nature.   Think of the traditional image of a Mermaid, half woman half fish, or we can say half Earth and half Water in this context.   The Earth’s energy comes into play through the Sand of the shoreline and the Salt found in the Water of the Sea.   Combining Sand, Water, and Salt into aspects of your altars to embrace the Water Fae and Sea Siren within is a great way to learn to delve into your own depths!   As a bonus, you can also utilize the Water and Earth energy to help increase your creativity and fertility, if you so wish.   This is your reminder to learn the wisdom Water and Earth have to Impart!

TENDING THE WELLS OF THE SOUL

~Coming off of the last tip, once you have learned to embrace the Water and Earth, you can begin to truly learn to Tend the Wells of the Soul!   To Tend the Wells of the Soul is to become the Well Maiden Mermaid of your own inner world.   What I mean by this is that like the Faery Melusine, who spent her Saturdays as a Mermaid and tended a Well before being married, we can each embody that Well Maiden energy, even if we never get the chance to tend an actual Well with Sacred Waters.   We can Tend the Well of our own Soul, for within each of us there are the Watery Depths of our own Underworldly and Otherworldly Unconscious that house our Shadow.   By doing our Shadow Work and peering into the Dark Abyss within, we can learn how to love our Shadow and alchemize our traumas into something beautiful which we can use to become a more aligned and balanced version of ourselves.   In turn, this will allow us much more time to feel the immense freedom from burdens.   When we free ourselves from burdens we can enjoy ourselves like the playful Mermaid in Summer!

SALTY AIR AND BEACHY WAVES

~This third tip is about caring for the hair.   We all know that Sea Sirens are known for their long and luxurious hair.   We can care for our hair in ways inspired by Sea Sirens in order to both tap into our Inner Mermaid and promote healthy hair.   Sea Salt sprays will enhance a naturally beachy wave in your hair, especially if you have a bit of natural wave or naturally curly hair.   I also swear by Rosemary Tonic to promote shine and a healthy scalp and Henna to protect against the Sun’s harmful rays and strengthen the hair strands (preventing breakage).   With these few natural hair treatments, I embrace the energy of the Sea Siren through my long hair!

GLOWING SCALES AND ENCHANTED TAILS

~This fourth tip is about caring for the skin.   Mermaids are often depicted with glowing tails and lovely skin.   Clearly, this means taking good care of our skin is a great way to embrace Sea Siren energy.   For me, as someone with insanely fair and sensitive skin, this is of paramount importance, far beyond the desire to tap into Mermaid energy.   Some of my most important skin care involves drinking tons of water (if you are hydrated on the inside your skin also benefits), using moisturizer daily, making sure to wear sunscreen (and bug spray during the Summer), using Witch Hazel facial toner (I love Thayer’s best), and always having Aloe Vera on hand to treat any sort of skin issues from sunburn to bug bites.   All of this serves to keep my skin hydrated, and me feeling my most glowing and enchanted Fae energy!

CALL OF THE SEA SIREN UNDER MOONLIGHT

~The final tip I have for you today is to heed the call of the Sea Siren under the Moonlight.   This means following the Moon’s cycle, as this also controls the tides and aligns with the menstrual cycle of women, for this has a deep connection to the Sea Siren energy and the Mermaid archetype.   Moreover, this tip is to actually bathe yourself in Moonlight when you can, on clear nights when the moon is full or nearly so.   This truly helps increase intuition and align your body with the cycle of the moon and the cycle of nature!
