Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.   Today’s post is a review of the new book Sleep & Sorcery: Enchanting Bedtime Stories, Rituals, and Spells by Laura Hostak Jones.    This is another book kindly gifted to me by Crossed Crow Books to review here on White Rose of Avalon.   I would like to thank Crossed Crow Books for the digital copy of this book!

Now, this book is a unique mix of stories to read before bed in order to relax into a deep slumber and some rituals and meditations themed to each story in the collection.    It is written by a member of the Order of Bards, Ovates, & Druids who runs a Podcast, also called Sleep & Sorcery, in which she reads out the stories collected here.   The final story in this book is brand new for this publication, in case you have already heard all of her Podcasts!   In the past, she and her husband also had a Podcast together, The Midnight Myth.      

I really enjoyed getting to read this book with its stories based on mythology and Arthurian legends, certainly right up my alley in that way!   Each story is written in such a way that you can truly become immersed in the serene world being built in the tale.   I would call this collection of stories an adult spiritual bedtime story collection, like the grown-up version of being read fairytales as you drift off to sleep each night!   As a bonus, the unique blend of different recipes, rituals, and meditations alongside the stories serves as a nice companion.   I think this book is a great choice for anyone who loves a good story before bed, and especially anyone who may struggle with insomnia, as it has so many other suggestions to help your sleep other than just reading the stories themselves!
