Seasons of the Witch: Beltane Oracle Deck Review

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.   Today’s post is a review of Seasons of the Witch: Beltane Oracle by Lorriane Anderson and Juliet Diaz and illustrated by Giada Rose.   I have wanted this deck ever since getting the Samhain deck this past September as an early birthday present for myself, as I knew I wanted to use the Samhain Oracle for the dark half of the year and the Beltane Oracle for the light half of the year.    I thought it would be beautiful symmetry to have my two favorite holidays representing their halves of the year in this way with companion Oracles.

I have to say, that this deck does not disappoint!   I waited until the light half of the year to purchase the deck, as I wanted to get it closer to Beltane, similarly to how I got the other one closer to Samhain.    I am glad I waited, as I now can incorporate this deck into Springtime workings and meditations regularly until the year begins to darken and I pick up the companion deck again.    Now that I have overexplained why I got this deck, let’s look at why it is so lovely.

The deck is gold-leaf edged and features gold backs to the cards with a full moon in the center and four bees at each corner.    All of the beauty of Beltane is peppered through the cards nicely.   There are bees and honey featured prominently, showing the fertility and abundance of the holiday.    There is a lot of focus on sexuality, which is appropriate for a holiday so tied to the fertility and sexuality rites to bless the land and people alike!    There are also several animal cards and lots of Fae representations, even if only one card is named as such.    The Green Man and Goddess cards also give me major Faery energy, as do all the cards with sexual themes, as I have discussed that Faeries are very closely linked with Sacred Sexuality in general.    Flipping through the deck and doing readings and card pulls feels like stepping through a magickal portal and into an enchanted Faeryland on the Eve of Beltane!

The cards gave me such a positive feeling from the first time I shuffled them, that I am so happy I have purchased this deck!   I hope you have enjoyed this short and gushing review of Seasons of the Witch: Beltane Oracle.   Do you have this deck?   Are you going to get it now?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. I love their oracles! I’ve purchased every one that’s complete, and have a couple on pre-order. Now just waiting for an Ostara Oracle from them. I really loved the Imbolc deck.

      • I used the Yule oracle a bit. Thing is, I’ve always been strictly a “Tarot gal” — wouldn’t touch an oracle deck LOL. But I like the Yule idea. Just wasn’t sure how to use it. Then, for Imbolc… well, I run a “flamekeeping cill” for the Goddess Brigid, so Imbolc is a special time. I just went through the complete SOTW Oracle deck, posting one card each day in the group and discussing the ideas. It was so meaningful! That’s when I decided I wanted the whole series. I now either own or have pre-ordered every deck except there wasn’t one yet for Ostara. I’m eagerly awaiting that one!
