Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is a reflection on the preparation for and joy of attending a Faery Masquerade Ball! So, back in December my best friend Daisy found out about a local Faery Masquerade Ball that was being held and we bought tickets, excitedly awaiting the Ball for a few months. We finally got to attend the Ball this past Saturday, and it did not disappoint!
Late Saturday afternoon Daisy and I spent at my home preparing for the Ball, settling on accessories, and doing our makeup. I loved getting to do both Daisy’s makeup and my own in preparation for the Ball. It was also a lot of fun to experiment with whether I could wear my elf ears with my woodland Faery flower and antler headband and my green lace mask (it turned out I could not make it work). We also had to determine whether or not Daisy could wear her large Faery wings, which she did wear and they looked great even if she was bumping them into things all night. I also had to learn to deal with the fact that my antlers made the headband top heavy, as it fell off three times while dancing, but it did not spoil any of the fun! After all, that is just the fun of dressing up and cosplay in general, sometimes your accessories are not the most practical, but at least they are fun to wear and look awesome.
When we got there it was a beautifully decorated Ball and they had vendors, which we could not resist checking out and purchasing a few things. I personally got a small Goddess figurine, which I adore and She is a great reminder of a fun night. There was also a Rune Reader there, so getting our Runes Read was one of the most profound things to happen during the Ball. I felt the reading was pretty spot on, and certainly confirmed a lot of my own insights about how life is going at the moment, even calling me out on my perfectionism and needing to give myself a break sometimes!
Other than that, we got to take a cute photo together with a photographer there, and spent the rest of the night dancing! In fact, when we finally were ready to leave, I think we had danced for well over two hours total, given that we only left the dance floor to do the other things that I discussed above. One of the other attendees teased us when I said we were leaving a bit early because we were tired, stating that he thought it was “funny we were tired as we had just been on the dance floor all night”. We ended up leaving a little under an hour before the party ended officially, but after others had begun to leave signaling the party was breaking up. My amazing husband Andrew had driven us and picked us back up, which we appreciated so much. Even though he did not want to attend himself, he was so kind to make sure that we got there and back safely!
Overall, I am very blessed to have attended this Ball, as it was great fun and an amazing chance to let loose and also help my local Pagan Pride, as it was a fundraiser for that cause! I hope you have enjoyed this short reflection on my fun time attending a Faery Masquerade Ball. Do you ever get the chance to attend Faery-themed events?
