Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.   Today’s post is going to be focused on how we can break down the Astrological Wheel based on the Three Realms of Celtic Cosmology.   The Three Realms are the Realm of Sky, Realm of Land, and Realm of Sea.    The Realm of Sky is the world above, the Divine Realm, our connection to Source, and potential futures in general, associated with the element of Air and with intellect and thought, much like the Tarot suit of Swords.    The Realm of Land is the physical world, the material realm, the mundane world, and the world of manifested reality as it currently stands, associated with the element of Earth and with stability and abundance, much like the Tarot suit of Pentacles.   The Realm of Sea is the unconscious, the Shadowy Sea, the realm of the depths of our souls, the past in general, and the realm of the ancestors and the dead, associated with the element of Water and with emotions, much like the Tarot suit of Cups.

~REALM OF SKY~

TIME OF ARIES, TAURUS, GEMINI, & CANCER

~As the Zodiac Wheel begins with the sign of Aries, I believe that the focus is on the Realm of the Sky.   As the year is beginning to be renewed through the birth of Springtime, the Air is opening to allow us to breathe more deeply.   New thoughts and inspiration are beginning to bloom, very much the energy of the Ace of Swords, the great rising force that will bring us into the next phase of the year.    That may be why I so deeply associate this time with the Realm of Sky! 

~REALM OF LAND~

TIME OF LEO, VIRGO, LIBRA, & SCORPIO

~As the Zodiac Wheel turns towards the sign of Leo, I believe the break between the Realm of Sky and the Realm of Land occurs.    The Realm of Land is the living mortal world, and where the fertility of the land is made manifest.   This makes so much sense, given that this timeline of the Zodiac Wheel spans the three harvest festivals, as Lughnasadh occurs during Leo, the Autumnal Equinox occurs at the very end of Virgo (or sometimes the very beginning of Libra), and Samhain occurs in Scorpio!    The fact that all three festivals celebrating the harvest of all of the abundance of the land that has been growing over the Realm of Sky time, occur in the Realm of Land time makes it a time of the abundance of the land giving us great gifts!     

~REALM OF SEA~

TIME OF SAGITTARIUS, CAPRICORN, AQUARIUS, & PISCES

~As the Zodiac Wheel turns towards the sign of Sagittarius, I believe the break between the Realm of Land and the Realm of Sea occurs.    In the time directly following Samhain, we are firmly in the deepest darkness of the year, a time to delve deeply into our own Shadow.   The delving into the Shadow is very much aligned with the Realm of Sea and the element of Water generally speaking, making the Realm of Sea ruling this time of year an ideal way to embrace the energy of each of the Three Realms of Celtic Cosmology over the Zodiac Wheel of the Year!
