The Gift of the Sight

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.   Today’s post is going to be about having the Sight.   The Sight is a term used to describe the capability of those with psychic abilities to see in many ways.   This can refer to visions, dreams, prophecy, intuition, and oracular work.   This can also refer to the ability to see and communicate with spirits, ghosts, the Divine, and Fae.   The latter can lead one to become a psychic medium and a channel of the Divine bridging the gap between the mundane world and the Otherworld.    In fact, the Sight is often stated to be gifted to humans by the Fae folk in much old Faerylore, often with the caveat that you must respect the Fae and not misuse the Sight, or it can be taken away from you, even leading to your punishment!

Many people who have the Sight are born with some level of psychic ability.   This explains why so many people who have psychic ability have memories of having the Sight as children, whether that means seeing ghosts or having imaginary friends that were not imaginary at all, once the Sight begins to reopen in adulthood, a veil of shadow is lifted allowing us to more clearly remember our childhood gifts!   Now, I have also heard descriptions of the Sight opening only in adulthood, sometimes unexpectedly, and that is an intriguing case which I think is likely an ability that lay dormant for a very long time that is triggered due to circumstance for the individual.

Those who were born with some level of the Sight may want to open up their abilities further when they are beginning a spiritual journey, or re-open gifts that have gone dormant as they became adults.   It can also happen that the previously dormant abilities from childhood begin to re-open at the beginning of a spiritual journey as a call to action to find our paths (which is basically what happened to me).   No matter the way we come to embrace our Sight, if we choose to do so, there is always more to learn, as this is a journey not a simple search for a destination!    While my abilities from childhood re-opened when I began seeking out my own spiritual path and embracing my innate magick, I have also worked to further hone these abilities over my journey.    I personally believe that continuing to work on our abilities is a very important part of a spiritual journey if we seek to continue to learn and progress over time!

With all of that being said, it is important to state that when we open our perceptions and further hone and embrace our Sight, we progress further down a winding path upon which there comes a point of no return.   What I mean is that at a certain point, we have so far opened our abilities that we cannot go back to living in mundane blindness to the spiritual world.   Now, I find that to be a gift, however, some may find that to be a curse that they wish they never decided to walk the path.    This is because, for every amazing thing the Sight can give us, it also means that we cannot be blissfully unaware of the energies that surround us, we become a channel for greater self-awareness and teachers that encourage others to greater self-knowledge as well.   There is so much beauty in this, but it is also a responsibility some may not want to bear the burden of.    I wanted to give this gentle reminder to those contemplating further opening their perceptions, for while I find it to be the most amazing gift, I am fully aware of the responsibility that goes hand in hand with the gift and wanted to acknowledge that here.

As the Sight grows, we can even possibly come to a place where we are seeing spiritual entities in corporeal form, with Physical Psychic Medium being one term for those who have this gift.   At this point, the challenge lay in learning to differentiate between the mundane world and what you are perceiving through the Sight.   There are other ways the Sight can manifest, often with our perceptions being filtered through the Third Eye instead of our physical eyes.    No matter what way the Sight manifests, it is important to protect ourselves when we are going about daily life once our Sight is opening.   That could be protective jewelry or tattoos, or protective glamour, or even learning to use a filter in our Sight to help make day-to-day exchanges less packed with psychic overload.

I hope you have enjoyed this little deep dive into working with the Sight.   Do you have the Sight?   Are you working on opening the Sight more?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
