Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is about how our perceived appearance by those who know us can speak to some inner truths! I think that today’s post is the ideal follow-up to yesterday’s first post on the Mermaid archetype, as I am going to be basing this post on how people perceive me, and I am often perceived as Mermaid-like, Elf-like, and referred to as reminding people of fairytale characters.
I did write about the fact that my husband has always referred to me as having the energy of a Mermaid, comparing me to Mermaids and other Water Faeries in a very complimentary way. This is the way that the love of my life perceives me, in this very romantic Mermaid and Siren appearance, and even a love of my long flowing hair adds to the fact that my husband enjoys this Mermaid appearance he perceives me to have!
Similarly, other people in my life have always referred to me as having a very Fey appearance. I am often compared to Snow White, a fairytale character known for an Otherworldly look and beauty. Others love to compare me to an Elf, the perception is of Otherworldly beauty and impish energy of the inhabitants of Elfhame in this case! No matter whether we look at perceptions of my appearance being compared to Mermaids, Snow White, or Elves, this makes up the whole perception of my looks having a timeless and magickal quality. I have written in the past about having an Ethereal Essence according to the Kitchener style essences system, and the above description of the way I am perceived aligns with that very well, especially given I also have lots of Romantic and Ingenue Essences within my physical makeup!
Now, I want to bring this post full circle by explaining how the fact that people perceive my essence through comparison to Mermaids, Elves, and Snow White entwines deeply with my personality and spiritual path. As the title of the post states, our physical appearance can reveal innate inner truths. The Elf shows my grounded, hardworking, herbalist nature, the Earthier side of myself, as Elves are often seen as good with handicrafts and smith work. The Mermaid shows my watery, sensual, sexual, flowing, emotional, and psychic nature, as this is how Mermaids are perceived and what they represent. The Snow White references show the perception of Otherworldly beauty, a timeless and old-world energy, and a purity of allure, sexy while still having an air of innocence in some ways. All of these are true of my desires, goals, beliefs, and basic personality. It is highly intriguing to me that all of these things seem to align so well!
I hope you have enjoyed this short look at how perception and appearance entwine with spiritual truths. Do you find commonality between how you are perceived and your inner truths? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
