Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is about finding new ways to embrace your personal Avalonian Priestess Path, based on the Sisterhood of Avalon Tradition, started by Jhenah Telyndru! The Sisterhood of Avalon has nine distinct Priestess Paths that you can follow, and many of us follow a few of them to one extent or another, instead of just following one.
The nine paths are Lorekeeper, Lawspeaker, Emissary, Artisan, Hearthtender, Guardian, Seer, Healer, and Ritualist. When I initially joined the Sisterhood of Avalon, the first path that I felt drawn to was the Path of the Seer. I was also feeling a pull to the Lorekeeper and Artisan, but I realized that although I love studying the myths and legends and using artwork for spirituality, I did not feel that I was truly walking those paths. Next, due to the fact that I am studying Herbalism, I was drawn to the Path of the Healer. Finally, I became drawn very surprisingly to the Path of the Ritualist! So, those are the three paths that I actively engage with spiritually most often.
Now, I want to explain what my main path is and why I was so surprised by how my personal path has evolved. My main path is that of the Ritualist, as I have discovered that each way I approach my personal path and spiritual life is rooted in ceremony and ritual! This seemed to be counterintuitive to my personality at first, as I am very free-spirited, but my form of ritualism is not in following someone else’s idea of what a ritual or ceremony should look like, instead, my path is about creating my own ritual! Creating rituals is a very artistic endeavor (combining Artisan energy), and creating ceremonies can also be an endeavor based on folklore knowledge (combining Lorekeeper energy). The creation of ritual is a Seer endeavor when my rituals are of a psychic nature very often, and the creation of ceremony can be very healing when you infuse the use of herbs and other healing modalities into the ritual! I have used my knowledge of several variants of Avalonian paths, not just the Sisterhood of Avalon, but also many others that are Avalon-based (like the Avalonian traditions of Demelza Fox, Kathy Jones, and Mara Freeman for example), to infuse my practice with a special blend of Avalonian rituals and ceremonies that are unique to me!
At the end of the day, finding out which of the nine paths, if you subscribe to an Avalonian ideology, you filter your Priestess nature through will help you to create a more well-rounded spiritual journey. I hope this short post has helped get you thinking of what type of Priestess path most appeals to you if you are walking a spiritual path.
