Earth & Water, Dual Elemental Connections in Spiritual Work

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.   Today’s post is about how you may have two complementary elements that are equal, or nearly so, in your connection to them spiritually.   This has come to me over the last few weeks, as I have begun to realize how close my associations with both Earth and Water are.   In fact, I have thought of each to be my primary element in turn.   Now, I have come to the conclusion that they ebb and flow in primary elemental connection depending on whether I am more in need of one or the other spiritually!

I want to start this exploration by deep diving into my Natal Chart to find my Earthy and Watery connections there.

Astrology: VIRGO SUN & MOON

~Obviously, my sun and moon are both the same Earth sign of Virgo.

URANUS, NEPTUNE, TRUE NODE IN CAPRICORN

~Three key placements directly in the Earth sign of Capricorn.

SATURN IN 0 DEGREES AQUARIUS, CUSP CAPRICORN

~Saturn is technically in Aquarius, but at zero degrees it is definitely cusping Earth sign of Capricorn.

MIDHEAVEN TAURUS

~Given I am a Leo Rising, I have a Midheaven in Taurus, connecting me to all three Earth signs now.

PLUTO IN SCORPIO

~Okay, my only planet in a Water sign is a heavy hitter!   I am part of the Pluto in Scorpio generation, meaning I am always up for digging deeper into the Shadows!

CANCER IN 12TH HOUSE

~So the twelfth house is the house of dreams, secrets, hidden desires, fantasies, and fears.   It is ruled by Pisces, making it already a Water-associated house, and I have the Water sign of Cancer in this house, albeit with no planets in this sign!

PISCES AND VIRGO SISTER SIGNS (VIRGO MOON)

~Finally, I have to mention that Virgo (my sun and moon sign) and Pisces are sister signs.   That means that they are paired in Lunar cycles.   Each time a New Moon is in Pisces, a Full Moon is in Virgo during that Lunation.   Each time a New Moon is in Virgo, a Full Moon is in Pisces during that Lunation.   This means that all Virgo Moons have a deep connection to the Watery and emotional Pisces!   It also gives me a link to all three Water signs now!

~Next, let’s look at the process of growing plants and how the fertility of growth embraces both Earth and Water profoundly.    As an herbalist, this seemed to be a good way of describing how my connections to Earth and Water work in the natural world!

The Process of Plant Growth

SEED DEEP IN THE EARTH GROWS ROOTS AND PLANT GROWS UPWARD AND OUTWARD INTO THE EARTH

~The seed within the Earth slowly beginning to grow is deeply within the solid nurturance of the Earth element.   The seed is safely cocooned by the soil to protect it as it begins to grow.

WATER NOURISHES THE GROWING SEED

~Water needs to nourish the soil and the seed to encourage growth.   As the Water finds her way to the seed, the first signs of growth begin to occur.

SUN WARMS THE SOIL

~ The sun must warm the soil to allow the plant to flourish.

PLANT BREAKS THROUGH THE SOIL

~The new plant is finally able to break through the soil in order to be a new bloom.   Its tender leaves sprout from the soil, as its new root system serves as an anchor into the Earth.

WATER NOURISHES THE NEW PLANT

~Lastly, Water is necessary for the further nourishment and growth of this new seedling!

~Finally, I want to mention that there is also the Womb and Tomb dynamic at play and the fact that even animals bridge the gap between Water and Earth.   The Womb is Watery and feminine, but also the body of Mother Earth, and the Tomb is the body of Mother Earth likewise, linking them forever!   We all are kept safe in a Watery amniotic sac during gestation in our mother’s wombs, and when we die we return to the Earth where our tombs reside.   Good examples of animals bridging the gap between Water and Earth are that the Dolphins, Manatees, and Whales are  Water mammals and Snakes can be in Water and on Earth, depending on the species!

~I hope this short analysis of some ways I find a balance between Earth and Water to be of equal importance.   What elements call to your soul?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
