Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Blessed Imbolc and Happy St. Brigid’s Day to all! For today’s holiday post, I have decided that I am going to share some of my favorite rituals and celebrations for Imbolc.
MIRROR SCRYING
~I strongly adore using Mirror Scrying in Black Obsidian all throughout the year. I do Mirror Scry on most New Moons and Full Moons, but it is also a great Divination form to incorporate during holidays. I find that I can often Astral Project, or Cross the Hedge, and find myself in Faerylands, the Otherworld, and Avalon quite easily, which is a great way to honor the Wheel of the Year holidays!
TEA LEAF READING
~Tea Leaf Reading is one of my new favorite forms of Divination. I have been practicing Tea Leaf Reading for the last several months, and I am very happy with my progress in getting in tune with my innate ability to read leaves. This is another form of Divination I practice often, but it is a great addition to holiday celebrations.
HOLIDAY SEASONAL TAROT READING (DONE SPECIALLY FOR ALL WHEEL OF THE YEAR HOLIDAYS)
~Each Wheel of the Year holiday I celebrate, I do special Tarot Readings for, which is a very fun way to incorporate my Tarot work into my holiday celebrations. The format of the Tarot Reading is different for each holiday, themed with that holiday’s energy.
SMOKE SCRYING DIVINATION
~Smoke Scrying is one form of Divination I only practice around Imbolc. The Air energy of this form of Divination is great for the early signs of Winter ending and Spring beginning to fill the air! That is why I love including it in my Imbolc practices.
HOLIDAY SEASONAL INVOCATIONS (DONE SPECIALLY FOR ALL WHEEL OF THE YEAR HOLIDAYS)
~I also do specially written invocations for each of the Wheel of the Year holidays. So this is another thing that applies for each holiday, but specially formatted for the holiday in question.
HOLIDAY SEASONAL TREE MEDITATION (DONE SPECIALLY FOR ALL WHEEL OF THE YEAR HOLIDAYS)
~I like to do tree and plant meditations regularly, and I have also begun to focus on a certain tree for each of the Wheel of the Year holidays, making this another thing I incorporate with each holiday in its own special way.
HOLIDAY RITUAL BATH
~I love taking ritual baths for different holidays. I do not do this every single holiday, but I find that I tend to love doing this for Imbolc as a way to spiritually cleanse and find the innate purity that is present in the new growth towards Spring present at this time of year!
IMBOLC-THEMED YOGA (DONE SPECIALLY FOR ALL WHEEL OF THE YEAR HOLIDAYS)
~Doing yoga associated with the moon, the seasons, and the holidays is one of my favorite things to do ever. It is something that helps you embrace the energy of each holiday within your own body!
BURNING WISHES WITH LOVED ONES (DONE FOR ALL CROSS-QUARTER HOLIDAYS)
~So, on Cross-Quarter holidays I love gathering my loved ones to write wishes to burn. While we also do burn wishes for Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Samhain, I especially like to do this with others during Imbolc, as I associate the energy of Imbolc with familial ties and close friendships!
REPOTTING HOUSEPLANTS
~One of my most beloved things to do around Imbolc is to repot my houseplants. As the energy of Imbolc is the energy of the growing burgeoning of Spring, it is a great time to begin preparing for the growing season to come. I find that repotting plants, to give them new room to grow and fresh energy in their pots is ideal at Imbolc. Whereas planting seeds to begin fresh growth from the seed is better saved for the Vernal Equinox in a few weeks, at least in my experience!
Traditional Celebrations I Have Not Yet Done But Would Like To Add In For Future Imbolc Celebrations
CORN DOLLY, BRIGID DOLL
~Ironically, the two most iconic things associated specifically with Imbolc, I have not done. Making a Corn Dolly, to represent Brigid has been a long-held tradition for a very long time. I think the tradition is fascinating, and would like to do it in the future.
BRIGID’S CROSS
~Finally, another Imbolc tradition that I have not yet tried is to make a Brigid’s Cross. It is a lovely tradition, but I have not made one myself. This is something that I have not had a chance to create either a Dolly or Cross because I have not had the proper materials, since I would love to do this with cornsilk and other traditional materials.
~I hope you have enjoyed this post about some ways to celebrate Imbolc and other holidays. What is your favorite Imbolc tradition? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
Note On Image: The image at the top of the post is a collage of my Imbolc repotting that I did a little earlier this week. I want to mention that each Wheel of the Year holiday is not a single day, but a season, and we can celebrate the entire week (if not a little longer) of the date of the holiday!
Tarot Note: I have a page offering tarot and oracle readings for those interested in these services! I am very happy to be offering these readings to my treasured readers at White Rose of Avalon! Link to page: https://whiteroseofavalon.life/tarot-and-oracle-readings/
