Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is about why you are never too old to live your most Faery Life possible! There is so much beauty in the energy of the Wild Woodland, the energy of Faeryland itself. I also believe that Faery is a place and an energy that is beautiful to embrace at any age.
When we look at traditional images of the Fae Folk, there are no rules as to how a Faery is supposed to look. The idea of Faeries as diminutive beings with wings only became popular in the Victorian period with the popularity of flower faeries. This idea then became more common when Tinkerbell became the archetype of what a Faery is from the time Peter Pan was first performed live during the Edwardian period. In older folklore the Fae folk were not specifically seen as small or as young, the idea of Fae looking very young came into being during the Elizabethan era because children often played faeries on the Elizabethan stage. When we look to folklore, the descriptions of Faery vary from small wizened looking men like gnomes, goblins, brownies, and leprechauns to youthful winged sprites to tall and noble ageless Elves from Norse myth!
Now, this all leads me to the belief that to embrace the energy and beauty of Faery, the energy and beauty of the natural Wild Woodland does not know an age. In fact, the Faery Lifestyle, as I call my way of living in tune with nature and the energy of Faery, can actually make you appear younger than you are, or even appear ageless! By embracing the natural world and grounding yourself into the energy of the Earth, you are becoming the most free version of yourself. This freedom is something that can help you lose some of your worries and the release of stress from daily life will ultimately make you appear very young because of not being tied up in anxiety. It is stress and anxiety that will age you quicker than most anything. If, like myself, you are lucky enough to also have genes that have made you appear much younger than your years since you were a child, it means that taking care of yourself and embracing Faery energy can make you appear truly ageless! But no matter how old, young, or ageless you appear, you can embrace your own Faery energy and Faery beauty because, as I have stated in old folklore Fae folk were incredibly diverse. The final thing I want to say is that the true beauty of Faery is your uniqueness, as Faery is the Otherworld, and having an Otherworldly look or otherness of some sort is one of the best ways to connect with Fae energy!
