Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is all about my deep connection and abiding love for the Apple Tree. I will also be talking a bit about finding trees to work with as Spiritual Guardians. I first really thought about having a type of tree as a Spiritual Guardian when I began studying the lore of the Ogham, but it fully clicked to me that my Spiritual Tree Guardian is the Apple Tree during a meditation conducted by my herbalism teacher as we were finishing up our studies. It was absolutely no surprise to me that the Apple Tree came forward in this way, given how much I adore Apples, Apple Blossoms, the Apple Tree in general, and the myths and legends surrounding Apples. After all, I am the Enchantress of Avalon, a Priestess of Morgan le Fay, a Faery Witch walking an Avalonian Path, and Avalon is the Isle of Apples!
The Apple Tree is associated with sexuality, fertility, creativity, and death. Apples also appear in fairytales, making them a symbolic fruit that has never left our imaginations. Given that Apples are so deeply associated with sexuality and fertility, it is no surprise that they are sacred to some Love Goddesses, including Aphrodite. The association with creativity is deeply entwined with the sexuality and fertility angles, as even other herbs that are associated with the womb, sexuality, and fertility are also used to help ignite the creative instincts! Apples in fairytales are most remembered in my second favorite fairytale of all time, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which makes me so happy to have my favorite fruit featured so importantly. The Apple in Snow White is more of the darker side of the Apple associations. With it featuring the Poisoned Apple, and the Apple as a symbol of temptation, which yet again brings its associations back to the sexuality connection!
Finding my deep connection to the Apple Tree as being more than just a simple plant spirit relationship and into a Spiritual Tree Guardian is an incredibly powerful and personal experience. I highly recommend that any of my readers who are also lifelong Tree Huggers, like myself and feel so connected to nature and the forest do some meditating on what trees they are most deeply connected with. You may just find your own Spiritual Tree Guardian!
I hope that you have enjoyed reading my thoughts on the Apple Tree and finding a Spiritual Tree Guardian. Do you have a deep connection with a specific tree? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
