Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is about how to develop a style that is unique to you, suited to your interests, and the overall essence that you exude to others! It is important to consider your own passions, your overall vibe that others perceive, and your own comfort when choosing a new style of dressing or honing in on a personal signature style. I thought this would be a good post going into the New Year, as many people take a look at their style and decide it is time to update their wardrobe with new phases of life! I will go over specific ways I embrace my signature style, and enhance my essential Ethereal Essence (Essences is what Kitchener called them), while also honoring the lesser Ingenue and Romantic Essence undertones. Ultimately, a lot of how I developed my own style aesthetics is to take inspiration from my love of fantasy, magick, and history, and to incorporate the way my friends and family describe me innately. Without further ado, here are my five basic ways of embracing my personal signature style!
FAERY QUEEN
~The most obvious style influence in my more fancy clothing is the Faery Queen aesthetic. She is both the Ethereal Nature Goddess and the Queen, in some ways inhabiting both royalty and the wildness of the natural world. I incorporate her energy into my style with long flowing dresses, chiffon and silk being ideal fabrics for this energy, bejeweled headbands, and flower crowns to complete this Nature Queen look! As with all of these styles, I love a barefoot look, but if you must wear shoes, and usually we must, I would go for delicate bejeweled sandals and dainty ballet flats.
PIXIE VAMPIRE
~This is the darker, more dangerous side of my style. I call it Pixie Vampire because although it includes all of the velvet and black aspects, along with coffins and skulls, one expects from the Vampire, due to my Ethereal facial essence I look more like an Elf or Pixie, in a way lending a youth or distinct otherness to my vampire looks! Other than velvet, coffins, and skulls, corsets and dramatic makeup enhance this vampiric energy, for footwear black boots are a great choice.
ELVEN MAGICIAN
~This is the High Fantasy Magickal look. It is essentially a medieval-inspired witch, very Whimsigoth, although all of these parts of my style can likely be termed as such also! It is long flowing dresses, many with trumpet and belled sleeves, dark and jewel-toned fabrics, and even jewelry that is essentially witchy, like moons and stars. Yet again, I would prefer to be barefoot with this look, but when shoes are a must I would go for riding boots and hiking boots underneath a long skirt.
ETHEREAL SLEEPING BEAUTY
~This Sleeping Beauty essence is highly inspired by the idea of Aurora dancing barefoot in the Woodland. Neutral tones and cotton dresses that flow, along with adorable accessories like baskets help bring together this Woodland Faery Princess energy! I also like to add lots of green tones into this style rather than brown, since it is more flattering to my coloring and Ethereal Essence and I adore green in general. In fact, ever since I began to deepen my herbalism studies, I have been ever more attracted to the color! For footwear, if you must but remember that playgrounds and parks may allow you to actually go barefoot, I would go with dainty and comfy ballet flats.
HIPPIE SNOW WHITE
~The final look I want to mention is very similar to the Ethereal Sleeping Beauty, but it is a little darker. This is very much in line with my own coloring, I am dark-haired (deep auburn/mahogany instead of black) and very fair-skinned, so I fit the Snow White look in general. In fact, I am often nicknamed Snow White by people who meet me and want to give me a cute nickname. This lends to the fact that people often see me as a Faery, a fairytale character, and someone who belongs in a different time, all of these things are primary explanations of people with an Ethereal Essence! To embrace the Hippie Snow White look, you want to include aspects of the Ethereal Sleeping Beauty, Faery Queen, and Pixie Vampire together. I really love to add a vampiric energy to Snow White due to her description and story having vampiric vibes in general. Think long dark velvet cape over a moss green chiffon dress paired with a coffin necklace and a flower crown of black roses, as an example! I also love a good flowing pure white dress with a blood red ribbon belt and a flowing black or red sweater as an option. Overall sweaters and shawls are a must for each of these styles, as I always wear sleeves during the day to protect my skin from the sun! There is always a way to incorporate a long sweater over your dress to protect your skin and add dimension to the outfit. For footwear, I would suggest riding boots or ballet flats to compliment the look!
