Wintery Goddess Aspects

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.    This week’s Femme Fatale Friday post is all about Wintery aspects of Goddesses, in honor of this time between the Solstice and New Year!    One of the best ways to embrace the Divine Feminine all year long is to honor the ever-changing aspects of beloved Goddesses as the Wheel of the Year turns.

MORGAN LE FAY

~Morgan le Fay is a Great Goddess figure whose power is felt immensely the whole year round, especially by people like myself who are lucky enough to call Her their Matron Goddess, and to be Her Priestess!    In the Winter, I tend to deepen into Morgana as a Healer, the High Priestess, the Lady of Avalon, the Lady of the Lake, and her relations to the Gwargedd Annwn.    She is in a very nurturing role in all of these aspects, encouraging us to go within and heal the aspects of ourselves that are activated by Shadow currently!   She is also in a period of maternal warmth, wishing to midwife us through pain, while also firmly pushing us to do what we desire.    Morgana is so beautiful in that she is never simply one thing!

BLODEUWEDD

~Blodeuwedd is another Great Goddess figure to whom I am lucky to call myself Her Priestess!   In the Winter months, Blodeuwedd goes from being the Flower Bride and May Queen to being the Winter Owl.    She pushes us to dig deeply into our Shadows to unlock the hidden potentials that we may be hiding from even ourselves.   Just as she gained her most powerful true Sovereignty when she was transformed into an Owl, so must we learn from her story to battle our inner turmoil in order to galvanize our Shadows into Sovereignty through the deep inner reflection that the Winter months offer us!   This will allow us to spread our wings and fly free, having unloaded the weighty concerns of the past, just as Blodeuwedd does as an Owl.

PERSEPHONE

~Obviously, Persephone is in Her Underworld Queen aspect during the Winter months, and that has always been the aspect of this powerful Goddess I have most been drawn to.    She is ruling over the Dead and also comforting them with maternal warmth, relating to the desire to go within we all naturally feel pulled towards during the harsh cold of the Winter.    Meeting Underworldly Queen energy will help us to unburden ourselves and live our most free lives going forward!

ELEN OF THE WAYS

~Finally, I could not do a Winter Goddess post without mentioning the Celtic Goddess Elen of the Ways, as she is associated with that most Wintery of animals, the Reindeer!    She is a light in the darkness, another key element of Winter Divinity, guiding us through the path of our soul’s unfolding.    Elen is such a lovely warm energy that can help us embrace a new path we may have never thought of pursuing without her intervention!

Note on Image: The image at the top of the post is a Winter Goddess, possibly Elen of the Ways, given the antlers, which I thought was lovely.   I found the image on https://www.pinterest.com/pin/375206212678167425/.
