Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is yet another one about the Queen of Pentacles, my personal Tarot archetype, as she relates to the common feminine archetypes. I think that a reason why I am so deeply connected to this Tarot archetype, other than the fact that my studying of herbalism ignited my Green Magick within, is because it relates to the other common feminine archetypes also present in my personality!
The feminine archetypes that deeply relate to the Queen of Pentacles archetype are the Lover, the Maiden, and the Mystic (or Underworld Queen). I will go over the comparisons of each in their own sections. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
THE LOVER
~The Queen of Pentacles is very similar to the energy of the Lover archetype because both energies are very focused on fertility. The Lover is sensual, sexual, abundant, and very romantic. All of these things also easily explain the Queen of Pentacles’ energy. The lush and Earthy energy of the Lover is very much present in the Queen of Pentacles archetype. The Earth Goddess and Green energy in the Queen of Pentacles is very much about the bounty and fertility of the Earth made manifest, which makes sense that there is a relation to the Lover, who is also a symbol of the abundance of the Earth and female body!
THE MAIDEN
~The Queen of Pentacles is very related to the energy of the Maiden archetype because both energies can be very youthful. The Queen of Pentacles does relate to the energy of the Flower Bride and May Queen in her youthful aspect, which is of course part of the Maiden energy. The youthful Queen of Pentacles is the Maiden who is the Flower Bride and May Queen coming into her own abundant and fertile energy. The early initiatory experiences of the Maiden which ignite the May Queen aspect can help to incite the sexuality of the Queen of Pentacles. I think this makes a lot of sense, as I find that the Lover and the Maiden are often linked, as the Maiden can become the Lover when she has her sexual awakening!
THE MYSTIC
~The Queen of Pentacles is very interestingly related to the Mystic, or Queen of the Underworld, archetype. Both the Mystic and Queen of Pentacles have a relation to the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The Queen of Pentacles is the energy of the Earth made manifest, which also means it is to her that we will all return upon our deaths. The womb and tomb dichotomy is very common with Death Goddesses who also have a mother aspect. I definitely feel this energy with the more mature side of the Queen of Pentacles archetype!
