Dark Faeries & Wicked Queens

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings.    Today’s post is a bit of a continuation of the last two posts about Morgana and the Evil Queen and tips about embracing the Dark Feminine.    I believe that all of these things can be tied together quite seamlessly, and fit very well into my concept of the Faery Lifestyle!    Morgan le Fay, Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Blodeuwedd, the energy of the Dark Moon, Blood Mysteries, and Shadow Work can all be entwined to deepen into the Deep Dark Faery Woodland Queen energy.

As an Enchantress and Sorceress, I embrace the Witch within my soul.   As a Devotee of Morgan le Fay, I was called to become her Priestess, as well as a Priestess of Blodeuwedd.    Walking the path of Avalon and spreading the energy of these Dark Goddesses in the world is at the heart of my magickal practice!   I have learned that my connection to the Dark Feminine largely explains my childhood obsession with legends, folklore, and fairytales.    The stories of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White have been my two favorite tales since I was a little girl.    Aurora and Snow White are the princesses whose journey into learning to embrace their deepest selves, with the help of the villain of the story (Maleficent and the Evil Queen) is insanely relatable!

I personally have a deep connection to both the Princess and Villain of each of these tales.   In many ways, as I have discussed in my posts comparing Morgana and Maleficent and Morgana and the Evil Queen, the villain is a figure who tests the protagonist of the tale.   That is in line with the way that Morgan le Fay works as a Goddess, testing Knights and Kings and testing her Devotees to become the most self-actualized version of themselves!    The sleeping curses within both of those fairytales are times of the Princess going within herself to learn innate truths of herself, undergoing a deep-rooted Shadow Work process to alchemize her Shadows into Sovereignty.

Morgan le Fay, Blodeuwedd, and Persephone are all great examples of Dark Feminine Goddess energies that work well to help us dive into the depths of ourselves.    While I am a Priestess of both Morgan le Fay and Blodeuwedd,  I have also always been called to Persephone as a Goddess figure.    In fact, I often feel her pull very strongly this time of year, when she has made her descent into the Underworld to take her throne as Queen!    I actively work with Dark Queen energies in general, as Morgana being my patron deity is a Dark Faery Queen of Avalon, plus Blodeuwedd is also a Faery Queen embodying duality, being both a Goddess made of flowers and a Goddess turned into an Owl when she made an attempt on her husband’s life.    All three of these Goddesses can help you to embrace your Dark Feminine energy.

The Dark Feminine can be something as simple as looking into the monstrous feminine.    Spirits and Fae like Banshees, Leanan Sidhe, Vampires, Fallen Angels, and Succubi are all great ways to learn about how aspects of the feminine can become demonized and misunderstood.   After all, many of those spirits, creatures, and Fae I listed above are not evil, but have been assumed to be evil due to their nature not conforming to norms!    This also ties in with the Dark Faery and Dark Feminine association with a love for horror that I have discussed in previous posts.    I believe that my love of supernatural beings, the monstrous feminine, and the horror genre in general is tied in with this connection to the Dark Feminine!

I mostly wanted to do this post to tie together my previous posts into something with more definition, plus I wanted to take the chance to remind everyone that embracing the Darker side of things is in no way something that should be feared.   We should all do what makes us feel most ourselves, do what makes us happy, even if that is to scare ourselves with horror films and novels!    I hope you have enjoyed this further exploration of the Dark Feminine and Wicked Queens.   What is the most appealing aspect of the Dark Feminine for you?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
