Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings. Today’s post is about the Priestess Paths of Avalon according to the Sisterhood of Avalon tradition. I will be focusing on the three paths that I work with most in my own practice, but I will also be discussing a bit of the other six paths.
In the beginning, I knew that Seer appealed to me, and I suspected that Lorekeeper and Artisan might also appeal, however, I realized that my attraction to those paths is really filtered through Seer, Healer, and Ritualist paths. I use my Artistic abilities to create ceremony like a Ritualist, create herbal blends like a Healer, and commune with the Fae like a Seer! I use my knowledge of Avalonian lore and Faery lore to enhance my relationship to Seership, Healer work, and Ritual ceremonies. Below I will go a bit deeper into each of the three paths I am following in their own section, followed by a brief overview of the other paths.
~SEER~
~Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: intuition, receptivity, Self-trust, inner wisdom, clear Sight, expanded perception, clear perspective, seeing the pattern, spiritual service, acting as channel. The Seer is the Oracle of the Priestesses of Avalon. She is the channel through which the knowledge of the Goddess is brought forth. This is the path I knew was the first one I would be truly embracing. Ever since the very beginning of my spiritual journey, Oracular work has been at the heart of my journey. I was lucky enough to be born with the Sight, and when I began to actively work with my gifts the first thing I did was grab a deck of Tarot cards. I now collect Tarot and Oracle decks and utilize my Seer gifts every single day!
~HEALER~
~Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: healing, wholeness, harvest, spiritual midwifery, support, skill, unity, balance of body, mind, and soul. The Healer is the Herbalist, Spiritual Healer, and Midwife of the Priestesses of Avalon. She is the one mixing the teas, brewing the potions, imbuing magick into the lotions, and coming to the aid of those in need of having a midwife of their emotions, as well as the physical midwife abilities. My journey of learning herbalism is one of the things that have most firmly centered me on my path of Green magick, and the role of the Healer. I adore the way I have been feeling into my Healer energy over the last year!
~RITUALIST~
~Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: Mysteries, connection with Source, cycles, ceremonies, time, rites of passage, initiation. The Ritualist is the Ceremonial Intitiatrix of the Priestesses of Avalon. She is the one who is creating ceremonies to make even the most mundane aspects of life magickal. This is the Priestess Path I was most surprised that I felt myself pulled to, as I had always thought of myself as more of an intuitive magician, just going with the flow without ceremony being necessary. However, it was not long before I realized that the way I approach even my simple daily magickal practices and devotions is incredibly ritualistic in nature!
~The Other Six Paths~
Lorekeeper: Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: creativity, lore, wisdom, knowledge, memory, history, transmitting teachings, continuity, instruction. This is the keeper of the stories and the one who is learned in the variations of the legends and lore of the tradition.
Artisan: Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: creativity, manifestation, skill, service, practicality, support, beauty, equity, transformation, and exchange of energy. This is the creative type that is working to create artworks that empower the teachings of the divine.
Lawkeeper: Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: truth, balance, justice, precedent, morality, advocacy, activism, meditation, clarity, objectivity, living in right action. This is the keeper of justice and fairness within the Priestess Paths of Avalon.
Guardian: Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: boundaries, guardianship, protection, natural balance, sacred space, interrelationships, advocacy. This is the protector archetype of the Priestess Paths of Avalon.
Emissary: Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: communication, networking, connections, journeying, diplomacy, relationships, clarity, truth. This is the Priestess Path of Avalon who is the diplomat seeking to network with others.
Hearthkeeper: Keywords according to The Avalonian Oracle: Sacred Center, community, home, foundation, nurturing, tradition, wise use of resources, continuity, kinship, parenting, nourishing, keeping the Center. This is the keeper of the home and warm nurturer of the family.
