Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings! For today’s post, I have decided to take a look at the difference between the traditional chakras and the five Avalonian Energy Centers as utilized in the Sisterhood of Avalon tradition. The traditional chakras are numbered seven, whereas the Avalonian Centers are only five in number. Each of the Avalonian Energy Centers roughly aligns to a chakra, but some align a bit with two different chakras. I think it is interesting that in a Divine Feminine Celtic Women’s Mystery Tradition that the number five is used pertaining to energy centers. This is interesting because it relates to the five-petaled rose, which is a symbol of the planet Venus and the Divine Feminine in general!
~THIRD EYE CENTER~
~The Third Eye Center in Avalonian Tradition is located where the traditional Third Eye Chakra is, but it combines some of the energy of both the Crown Chakra and the Third Eye Chakra. It is a connection to the Divine Feminine (like the Crown Chakra) as well as a connection to the Psychic Abilities (like the Third Eye Chakra). According to Jhenah Telyndru, each Avalonian Energy Center is aligned with an element, location within the Sacred Landscape, Station within the Avalonian Cycle of Healing, and Avalonian Goddess. The Third Eye Center is aligned with the element of Spirit, the Isle of Avalon (as a whole), the Station of Integration, and Branwen!
~THROAT CENTER~
~The Throat Center in the Avalonian Energy Centers aligns quite well with the traditional Throat Chakra in many respects, without having to take from other chakras. It is a connection to speaking our truth and honoring our Sovereignty in that way. The Throat Center is aligned with the element of Air, the White Spring, the Station of Emergence, and Blodeuwedd! This fits in incredibly well with Blodeuwedd’s tale and her learning to use her voice and gaining personal Sovereignty, especially after her transformation from a Flower Goddess into an Owl Goddess!
~HEART CENTER~
~The Heart Center in the Avalonian Energy Centers aligns with both the traditional Heart Chakra, as well as a bit with the traditional Solar Plexus Chakra. It is the center associated with love in all forms (like the Heart Chakra) but is also a seat of personal fiery power (like the Solar Plexus). The Heart Center is aligned with the element of Fire, Modron’s Mound, the Station of Resolution, and Arianrhod!
~WOMB CENTER~
~The Womb Center in the Avalonian Energy Centers aligns with the traditional Sacral Chakra but is specific to the female body structure, given it is aligned specifically with the Womb. It is the seat of our personal Sexuality and Sensuality, as well as the Waters of our emotions. The Womb Center is aligned with the element of Water, the Red Spring, the Station of Descent, and Rhiannon!
~ROOT CENTER~
~The Root Center in the Avalonian Energy Centers aligns with the traditional Root Chakra. It is the seat of our connection to our Ancestry, both our personal Ancestry as well as the Spiritual Ancestry of all of Avalon! The Root Center is aligned with the element of Earth, the Tor, the Station of Confrontation, and Ceridwen!
~I hope that you have enjoyed learning a bit about the connection between the Avalonian Energy Centers and the traditional Eastern Chakra System.
