Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings! Today’s post is an exciting announcement, as well as a bit of a memoir of sorts over what has been going on the last couple of months. So beginning in May, I was accepted into the Sisterhood of Avalon’s Calan Mai (also called Calan Haf) Orientation! Now, I have officially wrapped up Orientation and I have joined the Sisterhood of Avalon as a Full Member!
I am so excited to be joining such a lovely and supportive community of women. I truly enjoyed Orientation, and I am very blessed to be able to continue this journey with my Orientation Sisters, as well as to meet new ones as a Full Member! The Sisterhood of Avalon is a Celtic Women’s Mysteries Organization that was begun by Jhenah Telyndru and follows her Avalonian Tradition as outlined in her books Avalon Within, The Mythic Moons of Avalon, The Avalonian Oracle, and The Ninefold Way of Avalon. Something that I truly enjoy about the Sisterhood of Avalon is that while it is an organization, it is one where each of us as Sisters is encouraged to walk a solitary path of self-development as the tradition is rooted in Personal Sovereignty! I love that I can both be a primarily solitary practitioner, but also have a beautiful Sisterhood to turn to in rough times and to celebrate with in good times!
I am still very new in this journey of walking the Avalonian Path beside my Sisters but feel very blessed to have taken the leap by submitting my application when the portal for applying was open for Calan Mai! If I had not done it then I would have had to wait for the portal to open again at Calan Gaef (around Samhain). The idea of joining was something that had been on my mind for the last few years, really ever since I first read Avalon Within, but I chose to follow my own inner guidance for a while and build a practice for myself with inspiration from many different Avalonian Traditions, creating a practice uniquely my own. I am so glad that I firmly developed my practice as I have it first because now I have so much of a foundation and am truly ready to be a member of the Sisterhood of Avalon! It felt like a blessed time to join, as events coincided with hearing mentions of women I admire being in the Sisterhood, as well as having someone I knew apply during a time when I was considering doing so myself. I took those occurrences as signs that the time was finally right to join this beautiful organization!
