Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darlings! Today’s post is a book review of another title kindly given to me by Crossed Crow Books for review! I want to thank Crossed Crow Books for the free digital copy of this book, and for asking me to review it.
The book I am reviewing today is Circle, Coven & Grove: A Year of Magickal Practice by Deborah Blake. This book is an in-depth overview of the basics of starting your own coven in the Wiccan tradition. The information can be adapted for usage in other magickal traditions if one wished, but the writing is very obviously from a Wiccan perspective, which is acknowledged by the author. The book functions as a good beginning witchcraft book, as it has a lot of overview of magickal basics throughout!
I have to admit that this book was not a good match for me, personally. I am not a Wiccan and never have been. I also prefer to work as a primarily solitary practitioner and currently have no desire to begin a coven myself. This made me the wrong audience for this particular title. All that being said I do think this book is a great choice for the right reader. The book has merits as a well-written and thorough overview of a year of magickal practice within a Wiccan coven aimed at helping the reader form their own coven. One who is new to the Craft and desiring to learn about magick through a Wiccan lens will likely find this book highly useful, in my opinion.
Overall the book was certainly good for what it was, even if it was not my cup of tea. I hope that you have enjoyed this brief review of Circle, Coven & Grove. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
