Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darling readers!   Today’s post is a countdown of some of my favorite books to read for the Summer Solstice.   I was inspired by a list of books my herbalism teacher Suzanne O’Gara recommended to connect with Summer Solstice Energy.   Four of these books are her suggestions, but I am ranking them (and did already own and love them) along with some more suggestions of my own!   Thank you Suzanne for inspiring this post!  Without further ado, here is my countdown.

Number 7: Magical Faery Plants by Sandra Kynes

~This one is a recent read for me and a recent review here on White Rose of Avalon.   It is a great book to learn about herbalism and working with the Faery folk.   I adore that each entry on an herb contains Faery folklore associated with that specific plant!

Number 6: Water Witchcraft by Annwyn Avalon

~The first book of water magick by Annwyn Avalon is a great basis to understand how to incorporate a relationship with water into your spirituality.   I still use some of the tips within this book regularly!   It is a really fun read.

Number 5: Sea Magic by Sandra Kynes

~This book is great for the correspondences with watery spirits, animals, and other water life.   It is a great source to better connect with watery energy, both from the sea and from other sources.

Number 4: Mermaid Magic by Lucy Cavendish & Serene Conneeley

~I really adore the three magic books by Cavendish and Conneeley.  This one is all about water and the magical connection to those most watery of Faery women, mermaids!   I love the interspersion of input from many other mermaid-loving magical women throughout, which is a hallmark of the trilogy of magic books by Cavendish and Conneeley!      

Number 3: Midsummer: Rituals, Recipes, & Lore for Litha part of Llewellyn’s Sabbat Essentials

~The Llewellyn Sabbat Essentials collection is a great source of folklore, history, and correspondences for each holiday of the Wheel of the Year.   The Midsummer book is a great basis for beginners to learn how to honor your innate connection to the Summer Solstice!

Number 2: The Way of the Water Priestess by Annwyn Avalon

~The second book by Annwyn Avalon is even better than her first book!   I really adored the deepening of the knowledge shared within the first book.   I always seem to find myself drawn to later books in series by magical writers, as I love a more complex book, given I am not a beginner!

Number 1: The Sea Priestess by Dion Fortune

~My absolute favorite book that Suzanne O’Gara suggested, and one that I adore for this time of year in general, is this occult novel by Dion Fortune!   This incredible novel centers around a protagonist who is the reincarnation of Morgan le Fay, which of course gives it major bonus points for me!   It is truly lovely to see the way she is seen through the eyes of the narrator, a man who has fallen under her spell.
