Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon my Darling readers! For today’s post, I have decided to do a countdown of my three favorite tarot decks. Each of these decks has been reviewed here, but I wanted to rank them officially, as I adore each of these decks! Without further ado, here’s the list.
Number 3: The Wildwood Tarot by Mark Ryan & John Matthews
~I am a huge fan of this deck that was co-written by John Matthews, who is an expert in the Arthurian Legend and writes about it with his wife Caitlin! Mark Ryan created this deck based upon an earlier deck he wrote, known as The Greenwood Tarot, which is out of print. It is an excellent Celtic-based and woodland-based deck!
Number 2: The Llewellyn Tarot by Anna-Marie Ferguson
~I really adore this deck that is largely based on The Mabinogion and The Book of Taliesin. It is a gorgeously illustrated deck that was made by Ferguson, who also made her own Arthurian tarot, Legend the Arthurian Tarot, which is now out of print and extremely difficult to find! Finding this deck, which is entwined with Arthurian lore, was so beautiful and really spoke to me! I still adore using this deck so much!
Number 1: Tarot of the Hidden Realms by Julia Jeffrey & Barbara Moore
~I have been using this deck every day since I first purchased it a few months ago. It is the most Faery deck I have ever found. It truly felt like a Faery forest come to life. I really feel like it is a great deck to dive into Faerylore and deepen into learning to enter Faeryland, making it a great deck to meditate with as well!
Special Mention: Joie de Vivre Tarot by Paulina Cassidy
~This deck gets a special mention, as it was the first deck I ever felt a connection with. I could never really feel a bond with the traditional Rider Waite Tarot. This tarot was fun and adorable and helped me really learn to read, which gives it a special mention.
The Arthurian Tarot by John & Caitlin Matthews
~This one gets a special mention because the Hallowquest that was written for this deck is incredibly powerful. I really loved doing that Hallowquest journey over the course of more than a year, as it really helped my spiritual development!
~I hope you have enjoyed this countdown. What are your favorite decks? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
