My Recent Magical Reads!

Welcome to today’s post here on White Rose of Avalon.   I have decided to share four of my most recent witchy reads!    I will simply be doing a brief overview of each book, but they will not be ranked, as I highly recommend each of these books!   You will notice that this is overwhelmingly herbal reads, as I am currently in the middle of a ninth-month herbalism course.   I chose to only feature non-fiction books, but I will note that I have been reading a bunch of Anne Rice lately fiction-wise.

Herbal Tea Magic for the Modern Witch by Elsie Wild

~I really adored this short little tome filled with recipes for different tea blends.   It is a great book to help you learn how to read tea leaves, as it has an entire section devoted to instructing you on tea leave reading.   There is a good bit of technical information about teas and tea blending, which is a great way to begin a book.   I cannot wait to try out some of the blends recommended within the book.

The Herbal Alchemist’s Handbook Karen Harrison

~A perfect choice for anyone interested in the connection between astrology, alchemy, and herbalism.   There are great chapter long breakdowns of herbs of each planet.   It even contains some great understanding of numerology and how it applies to the topics at hand!    This really is an ideal tool for deepening your understanding of how herbalism connects to other branches of magick.

Witchcraft Medicine by Claudia Müller-Ebeling, Wolf-Dieter Storl, & Christian Rätsch

~This one was recommended as an extra supplementary reading for my herbalism class.   It reads much like a great herbal and magical text book, which is very useful for herbalism students!    I loved the way the book was formatted with interesting side notes on various plants.   I also really loved the folklore elements that are peppered throughout, giving it a very well rounded feeling when reading!

Encyclopedia of Spirits by Judika Illes

~I love this huge tome filled with hundreds of entries of different spirits.   There are even several chapters, over a hundred pages, at the beginning explaining different forms of spirit communion!   It is an excellent resource for anyone interested in any type of spirit, whether ghost, fae, or deity.    I really appreciated how comprehensive the book is, making it a resource for beginners and long time practitioners alike!

~I hope you have enjoyed reading some of my brief thoughts on four of my most recent magical reads.   Have you read any of these?  Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
