For today’s post, I have decided to share a countdown of some essential Green Witchy books for those who are interested in the more nature-based side of magical life. With all the Faery in my Faery Lifestyle, Green magick is something that is very close to my heart, along with water magick, but lately with my deepening into herbology, Green magick is even more my jam! Without further ado, here’s the countdown!
Number 5: Cunningham’s Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham
~Beginning this list is the most iconic book for the Green Witch, Scott Cunningham’s encyclopedia. This book has entries for each of the possible herbs one may want to work with and information on usages and associations for each.
Number 4: The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock
~This is one of the first book many read who are beginning to get into the greener side of magick. I really adore the author’s style and have read several of her other books. She is really down to earth in her writing style and very supportive of the showing people the Green Path.
Number 3: Mythic Moons of Avalon: Lunar & Herbal Wisdom from the Isle of Healing by Jhenah Telyndru
~I could not resist listing an Avalonian book here, being the Enchantress of Avalon after all! This one by Jhenah Telyndru is incredible, as are all of her books. This one does a deep dive into fourteen herbs that can be worked with during the lunar cycle. I love the magickal link between the lunar cycle and the herb craft aspects presented here, as well as how they fit into the magickal work with the Avalonian Goddesses!
Number 2: Wild Magic: Celtic Folk Traditions for the Solitary Practitioner by Danu Forest
~This one is really great for me, as a solitary practitioner who is Faery based, because it is all centered in Celtic Folk magick. Anyone who wants to walk a Green path would do well to learn a bit about folk magick of their desired path and tradition. As a bonus this one is concise and easily digestible making it easy to begin utilizing its wisdom!
Number 1: Magical Faery Plants by Sandra Kynes
~This is the newest acquisition for my library on this list! I bought it as it combines herbology with Faery magickal practices! That is the sweet spot to make it an ideal tome to add to my collection. I really love this author, having previously read her book on sea magic, but this one is even better beginning with an overview of Faery work and moving onto specifically Faery-related plants!
~I hope you have enjoyed this countdown. Have you read any of these books? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
