Welcome to the final day of 7 Gifts of Faery Week at White Rose of Avalon! For the last day, I will be focusing on the gift of Faery known as Sensuality. This is the Faery Gift that I relate to the planet Mars and therefore the day of the week Tuesday, which is why I am covering it today!
Sensuality is the Gift connected to the Sacral Chakra and the color Red. This is the seat of our innate magical pleasure filled power. Mars is often most associated with War, but Lust is the power that is very connected to the planet also. Sensuality is at its core the Gift of taking delight in our senses, all of our senses. To activate this Gift we only need to do the things that delight our senses. Listening to music that we adore, taking a bath to luxuriate in the water, massaging oils and lotions into our skin, tasting wine and delicious food and teas, and having sex are all great ways of honoring the Gift of Sensuality!
Herbs that are associated with Mars, and therefore this Faery Gift, include Nettle, Jergon Sacha, Milk Thistle, Tobacco, and Cat’s Claw. Nettle is the most important one for the burgeoning herbalist and Faery Witch. This simple herb, often viewed as a weed, is an incredible healing herb. It can treat allergies, skin conditions, asthma, and help with fertility! It truly is a potent magical herb that makes a truly delicious tea that I drink daily! It is also the very first herb we have been covering in my 9 month long herbalism course.
I feel that making Tuesday a day that you revel in the senses will activate a lot of inner pleasure. We can make it the day that we take long baths, massage our lovers, and cook delicious foods. Delighting in the company of loved ones can also be a very sensual experience to have each Tuesday. You can make the decision whether you prefer to focus on innocent Sensuality or would rather focus on the more commonly thought of naughty Sensuality. I think both forms of Sensuality are essential to engage in when we want to honor this very important Gift of Faery!
