For today’s post, I am sharing a poem I have composed about the Welsh Celtic Goddess Blodeuwedd. It is a perfect time to post this as she is a Goddess of Seasonal Sovereignty often associated with Spring and Summer, and tomorrow is the Spring Equinox!
Vindication of Blodeuwedd
by Maranda Wabik
An owl’s wing,
A flower’s petal,
Change of seasons,
The cold half of the year,
Turns to warmth.
She flies on white wings,
A snowy owl.
Once made of nine blooms,
Then Queen in Sovereignty,
Bestowing leadership to Llew.
Happy marriage
For a time,
Until meeting Gronw.
True love taught freedom.
Blodeuwedd
Betrayed by time,
Her sins are known,
But her true sin was desiring freedom!
In the warmth
She is Faery Queen
In the cold
She is Owl.
Always,
She is Sovereign to herself!
