My Top Five Mary Queen of Scots Portrayals

Today I would like to count down my top five Mary Queen of Scots portrayals!

Number 5: Clemence Posey Gunpowder, Treason, Plot

~This mini-series had the first part focused on Mary and the second on her son.   I love that French actress Clemence Posey played Mary.   She does a good job, and the French accent is likely one that Mary would have had, given her formative years being spent in France.

Number 4: Katharine Hepburn Mary of Scotland

~Katharine Hepburn was an icon of Old Hollywood!   Her portrayal of Mary is one of the best.

Number 3: Saoirse Ronan Mary Queen of Scots

~Saoirse Ronan is a great actress of the modern age.    She even, admirably, learned fluent French for the role!

Number 2: Vanessa Redgrave Mary Queen of Scots

~I love Vanessa Redgrave as queens, and she played several!    This film is delightful.

Number 1: Adelaide Kane Reign

~Reign is a show I adore, even if it is not historically accurate!    Adelaide Kane played Mary admirably well!    The costumes  are also absolutely gorgeous, and the hopeless romantic in me loves the romance between Mary and Francis (even though they were not a love match in real life)!

Note on Image: The above image is Adelaide Kane on Reign.   I found the image on fanpop.com.
