Today I will be counting down my top five films inspired by either the life or the works of Edgar Allan Poe! As a huge Poe fan I had to do some thinking to narrow it down, and to pick an order.
Number 5: Twixt (2011)
~This mystery ghost film starred Val Kilmer and Elle Fanning. I do not want to give away any spoilers, but Edgar Allan Poe is a prime figure in the plot.
Number 4: The Masque of the Red Death (1964)
~This is one of the Roger Corman and Vincent Price Edgar Allan Poe based films. The colors in this film are fitting to the tale, and Price is the perfect actor for a Poe story!
Number 3: The Raven (2012)
~This film takes on the tale of the mysterious death of Poe. John Cusack at first seemed to be an odd choice for the doomed writer, but it is a quite good film.
Number 2: The Tomb (2009)
~This is a Fangoria Frightfest feature that starred Wes Bentley. Bentley is now known for starring in American Horror Story. The Tomb is a modern day retelling of Poe’s story Ligeia.

Number 1: The Tomb of Ligeia (1964)
~My number one Poe film has always been this Vincent Price version of my favorite Poe story, Ligeia. This is the final Vincent Price and Roger Corman Poe film!
