Exploring the Well and the Artist Cards of the ‘Ethereal Visions Tarot’

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s Tarot Tuesday blog post, I am sharing an exploration of The Well and The Artist cards from the Ethereal Visions Tarot.

In the Ethereal Visions Tarot, there are two additional Major Arcana cards, the Well numbered twenty-two and the Artist numbered twenty-three.   I did not know exactly how I would feel about having two additional Major Arcana cards, but once I received this deck as a gift from my husband last Yule, I completely fell in love with the deck.   It truly surprised me that I ended up loving these two cards as much as I do.   After all, an 80-card Tarot deck is not the norm as far as decks go, but given that the two extra cards are lovely, I truly adore these new additions!   That means that I have found this deck really great to work with for personal development.

These two extra cards in the Major Arcana are really beautiful energies.   The Well is a Divine Feminine card, one that is deeply tied to the Creatrix energy.   The Artist is an energy of the creative individuals when greatly inspired by the Muse.    So, together the cards work in tandem to signify the creative process, both in the Divine and mundane realms!

I have to say that other than reminding me of the Creatrix energy and the inspired Artist (and of the Muses of Greek Mythology), these two cards together make me think of the stories of the Leanan Sidhe.   The Leanan Sidhe, or the Faery Lover of Irish legend, who inspired creatives through sexual congress.   Of course, in the tales of the Leanan Sidhe, the Faery Woman leaves her lover, and he wastes away from longing for her.   So, that is why the Leanan Sidhe is often considered a Vampiric type of Faery, but she is also most certainly a Muse.   The Artist who becomes the lover of the Leanan Sidhe produces the greatest feats of their career.   This is what is at the core of the connection between the Leanan Sidhe stories and the energy of the Well and the Artist cards in the Ethereal Visions Tarot!

So, yes, I definitely enjoy the two additional cards of this gorgeous Tarot deck.   The energy of the Well, and her endless fount of Divine Creativity, truly waters the potential of creative individuals.   The Artist is the one who has had the creativity bestowed upon him, putting the Divine Creativity into practical use.    I hope you have enjoyed this short post exploring my thoughts on these two cards.   What are your feelings about having two extra Major Arcana cards in this deck?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
