Advice from the Scorpion

Welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings.   For today’s blog post, I will be sharing some spiritual advice from the energy of the Scorpion!   Recently, I had a vivid dream featuring a Scorpion as a spiritual messenger, and that is what has inspired this post.

In my dream, the Scorpion did not inspire fear in me.   The small body of the Scorpion rubbed against my bare feet, and I felt no fear or hesitation, only a sense of peace.   When I awoke, I could not get this energy out of my mind, and this struck me as a potent message.   When I should have been full of anxiety that the Scorpion would sting me, that I would suffer the consequences of being in contact with such a dangerous creature, I felt calm and at peace.

So, I began thinking about why this is and what wisdom is in this dream.   It came to me rather quickly, the wisdom is to not fear cleansing destruction.   While the Scorpion in dreams can herald change and even painful times, those energies of the Tower card in Tarot this is not something to be feared.   This is necessary, it is the shedding of the Snake-skin that is too tight and no longer fits!   In fact, Scorpions and Serpents have a lot in common when they are Spiritual Messengers and Guardians, as both represent Sacred Sexuality, Transformation, and Magick.    This is potent for me, as Serpents have long been animals I have a deep and innate spiritual connection with!

The Scorpion appearing to me in this way is a reminder that I can and will weather the storms that may arise, and that the things that need to be released should not be forcibly held onto.   Endings happen, and things are destroyed, but this allows room for new growth.   It is in clearing away what is old and outmoded that we make room for fresh new things to blossom.   The Scorpion also serves as a reminder that ultimately, just as the Hanged Man is able to free himself in the Tarot, we can be our own worst enemies.   After all, there is a myth that a Scorpion will sting itself to death when in a dire situation.   While this is not true, the prevalence of the belief does associate Scorpions with self-destruction in the collective unconscious.   To me, Scorpions are also there to share the advice that sometimes we need to get out of our own way, stop overthinking and overdoing, and have confidence in the hard work we have put forth to achieve the desired results!

I hope you have enjoyed this short and meditative look at Scorpions as Spiritual Messengers.   What do Scorpions mean to you?   Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
