Blessed Midsummer and welcome back to White Rose of Avalon, my Darlings. For this week’s Femme Fatale Friday, I have decided to discuss Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Faery Magick within it! Being that today is the Midsummer Solstice, it is the ideal time to tap into the magick of the Fae of all sorts, from the Hobgoblins, like Puck, to my beloved Water Faeries and Mermaids, to Rhiannon in her Solar Faery Queen energy.
So, you may wonder what sorts of things you can do to bring in the wonderous Shakespearean Midsummer energy into your magickal practices? There are countless different things you can choose to do to incorporate the energy of the Faeries of A Midsummer Night’s Dream into your Solstice practices. You can play the Meddlesohn compositions inspired by the play. You can watch your favorite film version of the play, I prefer the 1935 (which has the Meddlesohn music used) and the 1999 versions personally. Or you can even choose to get a group of friends together and go outside and recite the play for yourselves, or even act it out! That is something I personally would adore to do one day for a Midsummer celebration.
Even if you are not a huge fan of Shakespeare, you can do so many other Faery things to enjoy the joy of Summer. Just like with Beltane, you can craft Flower Crowns. You can spend the day outside dancing and singing. You can spend the day at the beach (if you are blessed to live near a beach or to be able to go on vacation during the Solstice). Whatever you want to do, it is truly up to you. As long as you are celebrating Nature and happily inviting in the energy of the Fae to celebrate with you, that is all that matters!
For me, I love to meditate, dance, sing, and do arts and crafts to spread the joy of the Midsummer Solstice. I will definitely be doing some fun magick, especially as this Solstice is falling on a Friday, which is the day of Venus, and given how important Venusian energy is to my practice, it is a great day to do some extra magick. With all of my Mermaid Soul energy, I plan to do even more Water Magick than I do each day (as I do practice Water Magick literally every day). I also hope that the weather is nice enough this weekend to get out and about, as I find it so important to spend time outdoors during each turn of the Wheel of the Year!
I hope you have enjoyed this short post about some fun Faery Magick for Midsummer. What are your favorite Midsummer activities? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
